CNET Editors' review
This application resets your TCP/IP settings and repairs your Windows Sockets, but it should be only used to repair a specific problem. XP TCP/IP Repair's plain and simple two-button interface briefly explains each repair button. This program performs two functions that reset to default status pertinent sections of the Windows Registry that may have been damaged by spyware or other problems. You should use this program only as a last resort to repair corrupt Internet protocols or malformed Layered Service Providers (LSP). Click the Reset TCP/IP button to reset the Internet Protocol to newly installed status. Click the Repair Winsock button to remove all LSPs. You won't see this program make the changes, but your Internet connectivity should return. This program does not speed up systems without Registry errors. We recommend this freeware for all users who have the specified connectivity problems.Publisher's Description
From WareSoft Software:
Is Spyware and/or Adware messing up your internet connection after you have uninstalled it? Has your internet connection slowed down and you just do not know why? Have you used an Internet Optimizer that just did not optimize your internet, instead it made it slower? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then XP TCP/IP Repair may help fix your internet connection and possibly even protect your privacy. XP TCP/IP Repair is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for commands in Windows XP that repair your TCP/IP registry settings and your Winsock LSP settings. Instead of having trying to remember long confusing command line options you can now just click a button. What is an LSP? Layered Service Providers (LSP) are small pieces of software that can be added or inserted into the Windows TCP/IP handler by other software. Data outward bound from your computer to a legitimate destination on the Internet can be intercepted by an LSP and sent somewhere other than where you intend it to go.
What's new in this version: Version 2.1 adds support for 64-bit operating systems.

"Great program, but sometimes needs a little CMD help"
Version: XP TCP/IP Repair 2.0
Pros
I use this program for my shoddy, unreliable internet connection with Comcast. XP TCPIP Repair works well, but sometimes needs a little boost by running running system cleaning programs first, then ipconfig/flushdns in CMD, then restarting computer.
Cons
It's not a be all, end all kind of repair tool, but it certainly helps.
Summary
I've used this on my old XP computers and on my new Windows 7 laptop. It's a lifesaver, but sometimes needs a little help by running system cleaning programs first such as Ccleaner, Glary Utilities, and Advanced System Cleaner (all freeware) and running the DOS command "CMD", (run as administrator) and typing in "ipconfig/flushdns" at the command prompt, press ENTER, then restart computer. That usually helps about 95% of the time. And if that doesn't work, just unplugging the modem for a few second, then plugging it back in will help too.
Sometimes adjusting your system settings help too. Black Viper's website helped me with that. It's another lifesaver when all else seems to fail. -
"Worked great and restored connectivity."
Version: XP TCP/IP Repair 2.0

A client's PC had several Trojans and other malware infections. I cleaned everything, checked the hosts file and firewall entries, and troubleshot the network connection, but still no Internet. I ran this program and the problem was solved.
Cons
None. Great program.

"absolutely amazing"
Version: XP TCP/IP Repair 2.0
Pros
Everything is good about it
Cons
Who can complain about perfection
Summary
I have reached a speed of 1.02 MB download speed. had just about given up on downloading Ubuntu on Thursday night I was getting a speed of about 30 to 40 KB
PS If this company sell software I'm going to buy something if only out of respect and appreciation plus the fact that they know what they are doing. If they don't sell software I'm going to send them flowers or make a donation
Friday morning it was worse about 1.4 Kb I thought to myself this is unacceptable and started to search for something , anything to fix the problem. I had tried other tcp optimizers and saw absolutely no noticable difference I more or less had to convince myself that they actually worked. . Not so with this piece of software. I clicked on both reset buttons restarted and and began downloading Ubuntu I did not believe my eyes when the dowload speed was 810 Kb it slowly gradually dropped to 760 KB and then it started to climb all the way up to 1.02 MB. The morning started out with an estimated download time of 98 hours for Ubuntu to ending up taking about 15 mins or less I was to transfixed to watching the download speeds to notice the time all I do know is that it was very quick. This product is amazing.

"not sure on newer version"
Version: XP TCP/IP Repair 2.0
Pros
Have not used this new version but when I did have win xp and a diap connectio it did correct connection problems.
Cons
have not used newer version yet. have a version from about 7yrs ago. no problems then worked beautifully then.
Summary
The older version I used when had dialup, did a great job. I had tried everything until I ran into this program. It repaired and enhanced connection through dialup. I though microsoft was my problem they turned me to my pc supplier who turmed me to my isp who said my pc needed to be serviced by someone. well Instead of paying someone xxx to fix a problem with connect to internet, I gave this a try. It worked beautifully. Nothing could have been any simpler. I'm not sure how this version works compared to say 7yr ago. but if all they have done is upgrade to work with vista then i woulod say it still does what its suppose to.
