Version: FolderShare 2.5.1
Pros: FolderShare fetures a very useful array of capabilities that allow the sharing and automatic updating of files and folders. An advanced version of the Windows Briefcase, FolderShare makes a compact download at a tiny size of 650 kbs. It works on OS down to Win 98, so should still be able to run and function well on old computers.
Cons: FolderShare is not freeware, and at $50, it is slightly overpriced for its functions. However, it still packs a punch, so if you use sharing and updating frequently, it still makes a decent buy.

Version: FolderShare 2.5.1
Pros: I like that you can choose who you share with. There are no people searching your computer that you don't know and the ones you do allow have permissions... FolderShare User Permission Levels:
Reader (can only download and open files, cannot alter your files)
Contributor (can add new files)
Editor (can edit and delete files)
Senior Editor (can invite other users to this library)
It synchronizes your files as a background process and tells you what activity is going on, percentage uploads/downloads, etc. And it's owned by Microsoft and is spyware free. And it's FREE.
Cons: Although it runs in the background, it can only run in the background for the time being (although I have submitted a request to allow users to change overall/individual downloads/uploads priority) so for now downloads and uploads are very VERY slow.

Version: FolderShare 2.5.1
"I never write negative reviews but this software is painful"
Pros: Love the idea, and the fact its free. Not really sure it works well.
Cons: I tried to sync my iTunes music folders between computers. They are stored in different areas on the target computers, but for some reason it messed my whole library up by deleting some, moving some, etc. I am having to spend hours making sure all my music is intact and then in iTunes!
It also severally hampered the day to day working of my laptop until I removed it. It did not interfere with the system until it started to sync with the other comp and then it caused disply problems and freezes.
I hate negative software reviews, but I felt I had to write this one and warn users to proceed with caution. I am an early adoptor and install lots of freeware and shareware. This is the only one which I would actually warn people from trying.

Version: FolderShare 2.5.1
"Amazing product now owned by Microsoft. Free - sync files and outlook !"
Pros: This is now free and fantastic for syncing files between machines, offering shares to friends and also as a private FTP from machines you own at other locations.
Cons: Microsoft might well decide to charge for this product in the future. apart from that, its a complete winner. Network newbies might struggle a bit with the port setup if their network is restricted but even that is not difficult.

Version: FolderShare 2.5.1
"Update - Folder share is now Free!"
Pros: Very easy to share files. If you just want to synchronize files between two PC's or just do personal file sharing with friends and family this application is for you. Microsoft bought this company in November so now it's free!
Cons: Make sure you pay attention when using Foldershare because it has a small learning curve. But most users will figure it out in minutes.
