iMindMap is a powerful program that gives you a huge set of tools you can use to create visual representations of your ideas. Concise tutorial videos take you through the basics of the program, and the intuitive interface ensures that you'll be mapping like a pro in no time.
Visual options: There are a remarkable number of options for images you can use in various areas of your mind maps in this program. These include Central Idea images, which can help make the idea more prominent and also set the tone for your entire project, as well as multiple types of icons that can be incorporated into different Nodes to identify them and add emphasis.
Great mechanics: Building out your diagram in this program is convenient and intuitive. Hovering your mouse over an area of the diagram will display a circle split into five parts, and the section you choose determines what type of addition you will make starting from that area. This is much nicer than a lot of similar programs that require you to click separate buttons, or even access new menus in order to add on to your mind map.
UK English: This program is only available in UK English. There is no option for American English, and while this is not a huge inconvenience, it may cause some issues with spell-check programs.
iMindMap is a complete package, and it offers tons of great options for putting together comprehensive diagrams for all kinds of projects. You can try it for free with some limitations, and the full program costs $245.

This is actually a very nice software package to make mindmaps. Probably the best.
Three months after purchasing IMindmap 7.0 a newer version came out. The update is not free. Instead, the company behind it, ThinkBuzan, wants to charge for the update (albeit with a 40% reduction). When I challenged them, the response from their customer support was: " This was intended to be a positive money-saving gesture for our customers but can fully understand the disappointment if you have recently purchased."
Same attitude as Microsoft, Parallels, and all those other greedy companies: Sell you a license and try to sell you an upgrade after 3 months. Shame
NOT FREE !!! This is a very crippled version of the full package that you must pay hundreds of dollars for AND it gives scrambled text on install that is illegible so that you can't tell what you're installing.
There is no English-US version, only UK, which means your spell checker will be inaccurate in the US.
VERY DISAPPOINTING once you see the quality of the product itself, which is excellent, just not for the US market and not unless you're willing to spend big bucks for it.
