mada Pay is a free mobile payment app that digitizes Saudi-issued debit cards for tap-to-pay transactions using mada Atheer terminals. It allows you to store multiple cards issued by banks within Saudi Arabia, usable both locally and internationally at supported merchants. Payments are completed via NFC technology, and no actual card numbers are shared during transactions.

mada Pay also provides a simple transaction history log and relies on mada’s internal security infrastructure to manage encryption, tokenization, and payment data protection. It offers only core payment functionality. It aims to streamline the checkout process by centralizing payment cards on a mobile device.

Streamlined tap-to-pay functions

mada Pay digitally stores multiple debit cards issued in Saudi Arabia. Cards are displayed within the app, allowing you to select the one you want to use. It works with NFC terminals to make payments by holding your phone over supported machines. It also labels supported merchants through the mada Atheer logo or a generic contactless symbol, making it easy to identify where payments can be processed.

Though it only supports mada-issued debit cards, the security is built into every transaction. It implements tokenization, so merchants never receive the actual card number. Multiple layers of encryption and security standards are applied at the device and transaction levels. It states that its infrastructure aligns with modern practices, minimizing the risk of unauthorized access. The security architecture is maintained by mada itself, not third-party intermediaries.

Purchase tracking is a notable inclusion. After making a payment, the transaction is saved within the app under a recent purchases tab, allowing you to monitor your spending. It also preserves any privileges or rewards tied to the physical cards, though these are not modified or enhanced through the app. Cards retain their original properties, serving the same roles digitally as they would physically.

Not a wallet replacement
