The Request Management System is designed to move users' requests from inception to completion. The main uses of RMS are for IT service requests where users enhancement requests drive 65% of IT software spending. RMS fills the gap between project management systems for controlling implementation of major projects and defect tracking systems. It has three main parts: a form where users compose requests and attach supporting files; a workflow engine that moves the request from origination to completion; and an e-mail notification system that alerts all participants in the process that work has arrived for them to do. To avoid maintenance costs, RMS uses a Web browser without any software installed on users’ computers.
