"Microsoft Word Viewer vs TextMaker Word Viewer"
Version: TextMaker Viewer 2010
Lean and mean. Does the same thing Microsoft's Word Viewer does, only faster, less instructions and more file types.
Nothing negative, excellent Word Viewer.
Not equipped with Microsoft Word, I've been using M$ Word Viewer (free) to read Word (.doc and .docx) documents.
A short while back, I read about TextMaker's Word Viewer and decided to give it a try. First and foremost, M$ Viewer (w/compatibility pack) weighs in around 100+ MB when all's said and done, whereas, TextMaker's Word Viewer is only 5.2MB complete. That should have been my first red flag. Secondly, results of M$ Viewer were accurate but slower and clumsy.
TextMaker Viewer on the other hand, was fast and simple, plus it accommodates (views) more file types than M$'s Viewer, even with their (M$) compatibility pack.
After casual use of both in comparison (over a months time), I conclude that: although M$ Viewer is a good program, TextMaker's Viewer (simply) blows it out of the water. Good bye M$ Viewer.
