In addition to drag and drop, items can be added from within other applications using the Add to Notes service in any application that supports services such as the Finder, TextEdit, Safari, Camino, OmniWeb, Mail, etc or using the New from Clipboard menu item found in the Notes' dock and File menus.

Of course, there would be no point putting all this stuff into Notes if you couldn't find it again. Notes allows you to add searchable comments to images and movies and its extensive search features will help you find what you're looking for.
