"Lots of product for a small price. Works great."
Version: Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter 2006-12-12
Pros
Inexpensive, reliable, does the job for me almost 6 months now. Using it with an outdoor antenna and need the coax antenna connector. Software installs and works smooth with XP Home.
Cons
No instructions or manual came with the four RTL8187 adapters I've bought so far.
The RP-SMA antenna connector seems to be a standard, but requires an extra-cost pigtail or adapter to connect to most types of coax.Summary
I very much like the product for connecting to a distant wireless ISP (up to 2.4 miles in my case) using an outdoor high-gain antenna. Even without instructions I just connected everything up and Windows XP Home found it and asked for the driver CD. That installed without fuss and the Realtek RTL8187 has been working ever since. And for $20 they even throw in a 5 dBi whip antenna which beats the price of most other USB wifi adapters. I am doing nothing special with it except for the distance to my ISP. Just Internet and email.
