3DP Chip is an app designed to help you in the event that you ever need to reinstall all of the drivers to your computer. The app quickly scans your machine and provides a readout of your exact hardware, so that you can get the drivers needed to get your system up and running. This is a useful utility for anyone having hardware difficulties on a Windows machine.

Pros

Effective and quick: From the minute the app fires up, it only takes a minute to display the information that it is designed to provide. The readouts we tested were universally accurate.

Clipboard copy feature: You can easily copy all of your machine's hardware specs to your clipboard. This is useful for posting to forums or sharing the information with an IT professional if you need help working on your computer.

Cons

Difficult to read: The program prints the information on the screen in very small text in a difficult to read font. It was extremely difficult to read the information.

Confusing interface: The interface has several buttons which are completely unmarked. There are no hover explanations or any indication as to what any of these buttons may do. You just have to test them through trial and error to figure out how the program works.

Installation issues: The program tries to force a default installation on you that includes defaulting your search to a specific search engine.

Bottom Line

If you need an app to tell you what hardware you're running and to help you install the correct drivers for your system, this will get the job done. However, it is a confusing and dated-looking app that is difficult to use easily. Overall, there are other ways to get the same information from better programs.

I use Driver Booster 2. It works much better, and it hasn't once given outdated drivers, which is more than I can say for even Dell's own site!

I found this program to very helpful. Saves me from having to run all over the net hoping I downloaded the right driver for my hardware. It's a small download and installs quickly.
Cons
Some times it will have a hiccup on a certain piece of hardware and wont install the most current one it lists. When you try to download the network drivers (ethernet or wifi), it will send you to the website to download 3DP Net or open it if you already have it installed. Can be annoying at time but *shrugs* User interface has room for improvements When you install this, there is an option that is checked by default to install some crapware (like many other legit programs), just click custom install and uncheck the boxes.
Summary
Great piece of software. Anti-Virus may block it claiming it is Malware/PUPs but it is a false positive.. sorta. I will install some junk if you are not paying attention during the initial install but JUST UNCHECK THE BOXES and it only install the main program, it's not rocket science people. I've used this program for the last 2 years, as long as you uncheck the boxes, you will be fine.

Unlike other driver finders, and although I did have to make a search, from the results of the search I found the correct driver for my video card! I had to re-install my operating system of Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit), however, I am confident I'm going to receive the exact device driver, drivers, as before. A small utility program that doesn't take up much space on my Sony VAIO desktop computer system of 1GB of main memory (RAM), 200GB hard disk drive, Intel Pentium 4 CPU, at 2.4GHz, and NVIDIA video card with 128GB of memory.
Cons
I really don't know what some of the complaints are about with members giving this very good, capable driver finder. The only thing wrong that I notice is that the layout and design could be more spacious, and the lettering more organized.
