PortableApps Suite (Standard Edition) takes an old-school approach to mobile computing. Instead of hosting programs online, PortableApps is a comprehensive application suite that fits onto and runs from almost any device with at least 512 MB of space.
The suite's flexibility is impressive. It manages some of the best freeware applications from a taskbar menu that runs instantly when clicked on. User-favorites Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird are here, as well as the entire OpenOffice.org office suite, a calendar and day planner app, an instant messenger manager, an anti-virus program, and even a Sudoku game.
Impressively, the range of supported programs goes far beyond those in the Standard Suite. Others you can download include a media player, a Web page editor and even a version of the Mac OS. Along with all the software, PortableApp provides support for all your ancillary settings, plug-ins, buddy lists, and document and media files.
The download and installation is quick, if not lightning fast, and the interface menu looks as good as it is straightforward. We'd like to see a way to synchronize settings and extensions in future versions. Machines with more RAM and faster processors will handle the PortableApp Suite better than older machines, so consider this an excellent reason to upgrade and make managing your mobile world significantly easier.

Version: PortableApps Suite (Standard Edition) 1.0
"All programs you need, when you need them"
Pros: 1) Free.
All programs are full versions, either Open Source or Freeware, containing no Spayware or Adware.
#
2) Useful.
Newest office suite, web browser, email client, calendar and task manager, instant messaging client for all protocols, even antivirus and automatic backup of your data is included.
#
3) Mobile.
All programs run seamlessly from any portable device: extract the suite to your iPod or flash drive, take them anywhere you go and whenever you need them plug it in any computer and the programs run without any necessary installation. But with a beautiful start menu where you can choose any application easily. And you can even add other portable programs to this menu, there are many more available!
#
4) Cool.
You can show all the cool new stuff to any of your friends without installing or changing anything or their computers: just plug your iPod into their PCs and show them how easy cou can open MS Office files or OpenDocuments, save them as PDF and send them with your mobile email client.
#
5) Xmas.
Just buy a nice 512 MB flash drive for 20 bucks, extract the suite and you are finished: the perfect present for your parents and kids, so they can surf the web, email and open documents securely, easy and comfortable without the hassle to install every single program.
And even when the computer crashes again, you don't have to reinstall every program: just plug the flash drive in!

Version: PortableApps Suite (Standard Edition) 1.0
Pros: Pupils like me, understand what it is, to dont use the software your used to at school. But with PortableApps, you can! Atleast a 1gb USB Stick should do the installation well. You can check your e-mail, surf the internet, write documents.
I love Openoffice and FireFox, and they are in this software too. Now i dont need to use the software standard at school! Yippie!
You can save your documents on your USB stick, and acces them with PortableApps. Also, with the Options Menu, you can add some more apps. Like Poker, wich can be usefull if your done doing your work, and start doing something against the boredom.
Remember, 1gb is recommended for portableapps, to install it without problems, adding more apps, and save a lot of documents, without deleting some of your removaleable drive!

Pros: If your like me i surf the internet for ages, but if i go on a friends pc or in a internet cafe` your limited to their browser etc. Well while watching CNET.TV i got this insider tip on this, IT'S JUST BRILLIANT, you can surf using MOZILLA and a host of other tricks in this. I like the way that it DOES NOT install on another PC! I like the fact i can use my memory stick on anyone's pc, surf and know that i'm safe and not restricted, total 100% so far!
Cons: NONE
