- "This close to perfect"
- Version reviewed: PerfectDisk 10.0
Maintaining proper disk hygiene is like going to the dentist: You do it because you have to, but it's rarely easy and almost never pleasant. PerfectDisk is a friendly alternative that picks up where Windows' Disk Defragmenter leaves off, adding powerful features, an attractive interface, and a top-notch help file with clear instructions and definitions.
In addition to the standard defragmentation process, it offers a SmartPlacement option, which analyzes usage patterns and organizes data to minimize future fragmentation. Another useful option is offline defragmentation, which optimizes parts of the drive, such as the Master File Table and the page file, that can't be modified while Windows is running. On your next bootup, PerfectDisk takes over, optimizes the selected files, and lets Windows proceed with start-up. The interface features big buttons, bold but complimentary colors, and is short on drawbacks.
The program also offers statistical analysis, scheduled maintenance, and the ability to defragment remote computers running another copy of PerfectDisk. That last feature is perfect for IT staffers, but we recommend the app to home users, too. At its price, PerfectDisk isn't a bargain--but getting this close to perfect doesn't come cheap.

Version: PerfectDisk 10.0
"Best disk defragmenter available. PERIOD."
Pros: Extremely easy to use interface with task scheduler, incredibly functional.
Cons: Nothing so far.
Summary: This is hands down the best defragmenter out there. PerfectDisk defrags your hard drives in one pass; it doesn't take months of use to see performance improvements like some other defraggers. If you've owned your computer for a few years, and have... read more >>

"I downloaded it because it was on the GOTD."
Pros: Nice and easy, does a good job.
Cons: Very slow. Does it have a cleanup option? And yes - the price, how come that it was on the GOTD and it seems to me that I got a trial version?

Version: PerfectDisk 10.0
"It does it all ... really well"
Pros: This program was able to defragment my hard drives with virtually no free space available. I tested many other programs (many of them free), but PerfectDisk outperformed them all.
Cons: It's not free ... but hey, you get what you pay for.

Version: PerfectDisk 10.0
"Great Product, great support !"
Pros: Runs in the background when your system is idle, low resource consumption.
Simply set it and forget it. Smart placement and Bonus tools make this not your average defragger. Pleasant interface with cool charts and displays. Early windows 7 support!Cons: Can't change the interface color like you can in their lite version. I see no reason for this, even professionals occasionally have asthetic impulses.
Summary: Great software, I am a gamer and disk performance is high on my list of priorities. perfectdisk doesn't just defrag your disks, it can monitor them and arrange them based on usage. Basically, perfectdisk will afford your favorite software the fastes... read more >>
