"TERRIBLE !!!!"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
None that I could find
Cons
I downloaded version 8 from the Nuance website -- waste of time and money.
Buggy download, customer service chat did not work at all (no response despite saying "live chat available now"), program took over 1 hour to download over a 5GB DSL, did not allow me to install before I deleted a ton of other files to give it space (much more than the 26MB advertised), and after all this did not convert properly to DOC or PDF (lost most of PDF text and all of graphics), and despite the advertisements, it does NOT allow full word processing. You cannot enter new text at all!Summary
falsely-advertised features, unreliable PDF conversion, waste of your time - you will ask for a refund...

"Printer Restricted"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
Appears to cover most aspects of PDF activities.
Cons
Disallows "both sides of Page" printing, thus involving considerable time and effort of having to print all "even" pages, and then re-inserting pages to print all "Odd" pages. The restriction is a major inconvenience to Users. Until this restriction is removed or modified, I would not recommend the Program to anyone if time is an important issue.

"Product errors in Data1.cab within their own CD"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
Since it doesn't install...I would say...well it's a pretty colored disk?
Cons
I ALSO bought a brand NEW 'Neat' Mobile Scanner 4/1/2013 and Digital Filing System. Packaged with it was a bonus CD titled, "PDF Converter" by 2011 Nuance Communications. After setting up Neat I proceeded to install the PDF software. I noticed the actual name of the software changed to "Nuance PDF Professional 6". In the middle of installing a pop up box appeared with "ERROR 1335. THE CABINET FILE 'DATA 1.CAB' REQUIRED FOR THIS INSTALLATION IS CORRUPT AND CAN NOT BE USED. THIS COULD INDICATE A NETWORK ERROR, AN ERROR READING FROM THE CD-ROM, OR A PROBLEM WITH THIS PACKAGE". Retrying gave the same results. I clicked "Ignore" (I was curious what would happen) and received a new pop up box, "ERROR 2350. FDI SERVER ERROR". Who doesn't do QA on their software CD's? And Shame on NEAT for bundling something that clearly is a problem for multiple people.
Summary
Stick with ADOBE, or PDF 995

"Don't use the CD for PDF.Saves as PDF without it."
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
Easy to install. The company recognized and issue with the shipped cd and they provided a quick fix. It happens. I worked in the software industry and stuff like this happens. I use OpenOffice instead of MicroSnot Office. There are no crashes. Just don't use the PDF software that came with it. That doesn't install. I like that they provided a fix on their website. This stuff happens. I travel to South America for work. This is a great mobile solution.
Cons
Shipped CD is corrupt.
Summary
Perfect solution!

"trial worked perfectly"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
Easy install, worked great. Much better conversions to Word than other PDF conversion software I've used (didn't text-box).
Cons
none at all

"Promising product, big disappointment"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
Lightweight mobile scanner without the printer was just what I was looking for
Cons
PDF Professional 6 CD included with the NEAT scanner is incompatable. I got the exact same error: Error 1335. The cabinet file data1.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. I spent 6 hours over 2 days trying to fix the problem and did everything I could that others had tried. I finally gave up and returned it to Best Buy.
Summary
Don't waste your time if you buy it and encounter this error, just return it asap.

"Corrupt CD PDF Converter 2011 version"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
None - NO STARS FOR YOU!
Cons
Nuance packaged/distributed a PDF version that is no longer compliant. Package/CD promoted as name,"PDF Converter" but installation listed name as "Nuance PDF Professional 6 (with a stamp for the year 2011). The CD is corrupt. Going to their website, their 2009 "Read Me" Article, which was the first to appear by the way, advises version 6 is outdated and to unistal / upgrade to version 7.Hello?!?!? I just bought your product...in year 2012!!

I went to the technical page of Nuance's website hoping to fix this problem with a simple patch. To my suprise there's no such option. The first only option given is from a Technical Info Bulletin that generated was dated 7/7/2009, Article # TIB 6145 - Unistall PDF Converter6. And unless you are buying version 8, there is no option for customer support. I didn't know what version this CD was because the manufacturer failed to provide that info on the package. Trying to get a customer service person or tech is absolutely futile.

"Nuance PDF Suite leaves a nasty taste"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
1. When working does create good quality, well presented PDF's
2. Appending function can be usefulCons
1. 1. Crashes Office and won't work with IE9 at all
2. Post market support the worst ever experienced
3. Knowledge base unhelpful (has circular references to pages just visited)
3. Product registration & activation the most cumbersome on the planet. Product performance belies the need for such tight antipiracy security
5. File compression not great with large scan files
6. Not cheapSummary
Unlike Omnipage software from the same company, this product is a massive disappointment. Apart from the fact that key design elements which are meant to differentiate the product don't work, the requirement to uninstall & reinstall the product to fix bugs eg post Windows update, reduces the number of activations that are allowed (this is despite the fact that uninstalling the program is meant to be logged on the company's activation server). Discussions with Nuance 'customer service' in relation to the activation issue remind me of similar experiences with some of the big Telco providers. No call backs, dismissive conversations where problems are deflected, shuffled from person to person, no responsibility taken for a bad product. I should add, post a 30 day period you will be asked to pay for the privilege of having technical support offer their insight to the cause. They will ask you to review the knowledge base, uninstall other programs, downgrade other software and finally ask you to disable functions that were part of the design. The final straw for me was when a suggestion was made to upgrade to the next edition (where all of the bugs have been apparently fixed). Don't mind if I don't thank you. The product is still running but in bare bones form. Unless you want have an insight into how products shouldn't be designed and supported, please save yourself some trauma & look elsewhere.

"Worked for a while then unuseable"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
While it worked it was fine. Did all Word docs as I wanted then I tried to protect with watermarks and change to landscape. Thie caused the ppt to be shrunk to ~50% rather than full page. Once this happened, all Word docs were shrunk even though I changed options back to original. I decided to uninstall and reinstall (first time, same computer, no HW or SW changes). With the new install, it starts but NEVER writes out PDF. Total garbage. I will try one more install
Cons
See above. Don't breath, sneeze, stub your toe, swear, etc.....once SW crashes you are SCREWED. Support non existence
Summary
Will find other product and avoid Nuance products.

"Poor quality product"
Version: PDF Converter Professional 7
Pros
It looks good and works well for limited purposes.
Cons
Doesn't always convert scanned documents to searchable PDF
Highlighter tends to want to highlight an entire page rather than just the portion I want to highlight
There are simply better, more reliable programs out thereSummary
I primarily use the program to convert scanned documents to searchable pdf format and to then highlight portions of interest or importance. Neither function is reliable. About 50% of the time when I try to convert a document to searchable form I get a notice that the conversion failed. The highlighter is very unstable, and unless I'm very careful not to highlight to the very end of a sentence it will highlight the entire page. The company's support was useless. I have Abbyy pdf Converter and Xchange Viewer Pro as well, and they both work perfectly every time. I bought the Nuance program thinking it had features I use of both other programs so I wouldn't have to use two different programs all the time, but I find the Nuance program very inferior and I'm back to using the two others. I should mention that I also have Adobe Acrobat in another computer and it too is far superior to the Nuance program.
