Publisher's description
From Flo's Freeware :The original Notepad shipped with Windows is probably the handiest program of all times: small, fast, and without frills. Notepad2 tries to follow this principle - it's a small, fast, and free text editor with syntax highlighting for HTML and other common languages.
What's new in this version:
- Notepad2 source code now released under the GNU GPL
- "Read Only" option handles file attributes
- Enhanced find and replace dialogs with new options
- Optionally auto close HTML/XML tags (Ctrl+Shift+H)
- Improved tabify/untabify selection functions
- New hotkey to select XML scheme (Shift+F11)

Version: Notepad2 1.0.12
"I have permanently replaced Notepad with Notepad2"
Pros: Syntax highlighting is what makes this little app so invaluable for me. You can quickly scan configuration files thanks to the header highlighting; and having something I can run from a flash drive to edit script files on different computers has been wonderful. I have replaced the default Notepad on my system with Notepad2.
Cons: Not really a complaint, just something for you to keep in mind: Syntax highlighting is not good enough to replace higher-end code editors for serious programmers.

"Wonderfull program for WWW development..."
Pros: Very handy in showing matching pairs of braces, quotes, etc... Helps with the syntax. I love it. Takes out the fustration of finding the missing.....

Version: Notepad2 1.0.12
Pros: This is one of the best software products that money can't buy. It's fast, has a great tab interface, handles all kind of formats, including UFT-8, handles all kinds of languages, from ADA to XML, and features that go on and on, and you can read about elsewhere. The bottom line is that it works and it works well. If you're living with Notepad or a mediocre text editor, then you won't know how you ever lived without Notepad++.
Cons: There's nothing I don't like. I do wish it had a toolbar specific to HTML for dropping in tags, but it isn't specifically an HTML development tool, although it sure goes a long way.

Version: Notepad2 1.0.12
"Handy for source codes, but not for a notepad replacement"
Pros: Syntax highlighting for many languages, brace matching, zooming, line numbers with bookmarks.. All the things one may need while coding :) Actually, it is very like my favourite SciTE editor.
Cons: The application has 500kb, it is not very portable to a USB drive and consumes a lot of resources. Good notepad replacement should be more light-weight than this.

Version: Notepad2 1.0.12
Pros: The name Notepad2 doesn't invoke the right expectation. I would expect Windows Notepad with a couple of enhancements. This is actually a really nice scripting editor with color highlighting for many languages.
Cons: It would be nice if the find and replace functions were combined. But, don't let that stop you from at least trying this nice little, light weight, editor.
