Nisus Writer Pro brings new features such as Table of Contents, Indexing, Bookmarks, Widow and Orphan control, Cross References, Line Numbering, and Text Wrap around images.

Using Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) with Pro enables you to enter right to left text as in Arabic, Hebrew, and Persian. No other word processor makes it easier to combine multiple languages in a single document.
As a student or academic, you have enough to deal with. One thing you shouldn't have to do is spend time learning to use your word processor. Nisus Writer Pro allows you to start writing quickly, with its intuitive interface and tools at your command. Flexible note styles give you control over footnote and endnote layout. Bibliography tools such as Bookends and EndNote work easily with Nisus Writer Pro. I am running a Mac Book Pro 2.1 Ghz Core 2 Duo with 10.4.11. I have been using Open Office (3.2 - Intel only) recently and it comes with a full blown spread sheet, presentation, drawing, etc. NeoOffice would not automatically open the files that Open Office does. People have said there are some advantages to NeoOffice I don't use. Why pay $79 for a program you can get for free (should donate if you start using a lot) unless you have a PPC, even though it does not say will work with OS X 10.6, You may want to investigate (download and try) because Version Tracker sometimes lacks up to date info. Lot of bug fixes for what is actually commercial.

Why Nisus Writer Pro is my new favourite OS X word processor: Itâ??s fast, lightweight, and easy to learn and use, but is still rich in features; it has a lovely interface that allows easy access and customization of the toolbar and sidebar; keyboard shortcuts can easily be assigned for almost any action; imports other document formats extremely accurately (at least of version 1.2, though I hear there were some issues prior to this); itâ??s extremely stable; uses .rtf as its default file format instead of a unique and nontransferable file format (like Mariner Write or Mellel); itâ??s backed up by excellent supportâ??I received very quick and friendly responses to a bug report regarding an issue that turned out to be my (or rather Unsanityâ??s) bad.
Thereâ??s no substitute for stability in a word processor. The fact is that Nisus runs extremely smoothly and handles all aspects of document formatting and management perfectly in a nearly universally compatible format. There are plenty of good options for word processing on OS X, but Nisus Writer Pro, in my opinion, is leading the pack. Also, Nisus Software offers excellent educational pricing, making this app accessible for students without a lot of disposable income. -

I've been using Nisus since the Classic days. I have Microsoft Office and it sits on my hard disk waiting to open files that people send me in .doc format. I never write in Word. It's too cumbersome and it keeps trying to put me right.
On the other hand lots of my files have the Nisus icon. Nisus is easy to use, does what you want and doesn't fight you.
The days when Word will take up valuable hard disk space are numbered. -

I paid $69.95 for Nisus Writer Express. Now that Nisus Writer Pro is for sale at $79.00, Nisus Writer Express is selling for $45.00. Nisus Writer Express supporters must pay $45.00 to upgrade to Nisus Writer Pro. Some might say, "Biting the hands that brought you over."
Others could say, "Exploitative!"
Some will just call it as it appears, "LOW DOWN AND DIRTY!"
Nisus Marketing has put a frighteningly ugly colour on this application for me. I don't care how fine it might be. I supported Nisus way back when just to witness true greed now from this vendor.
Why, why, why do such a greedy, slimy, crawling on your belly thing?! -

If you're a jaded Word user, tired of a slow cumbersome program, which despite your years of experience still needs a bit of thinking to use, you'll find NWPro a joy.If you're looking for a first wordprocessor on your Mac, do yourself a favour and resist the urge to get Word, get this instead. It's a lot cheaper, it's quicker and easier to use and you can send everyone files which they can load up into any wordprocessor. It'll load .doc files too. You can get a free utility from the Microsoft site to convert the new .docx format should you need that. And besides not even Word on the Mac loads them yet.

Ihave been using Nisus Software products for about six years now and they are an excellent company to deal with. They produce excellent Word Processors Nisus Writer Express and now Nisus Writer Pro (there is Classic for those of you with older macs) I highly recommend this program
