From Presence Networks :Presence Networks business class IM requires the use of a software client called Networker IM. It connects via a centralized instant messaging server and differs from email and other IM systems, in that conversations then happen in real-time over a secure 128bit SSL network as well as being recorded and encrypted for compliance and record keeping purposes. Most instant messaging applications also include the ability to set a Presence status message. Presence Networks use these status messages to tell our advanced network what actions to take on behalf of the user if their status is set to away, busy, unavailable.
The Presence Networks messaging engine uses a sophisticated and proprietary version of the XMPP protocol that requires very little bandwidth in some cases as low as 2Kbps for fast effective use by a user. This service is provided as a managed service (SaaS) and therefore no central software or hardware is required.
