"My second brain"
Version: Microsoft Office OneNote 2007
Pros
This program is a life saver. My physics teacher just loves to babble on & on. This is really helpful in keeping notes of what hes saying. & Its really helpful in my Computer Engineering & english class with brainstorming, sorting ideas and essay's.
Cons
Importing can suck sometimes. I imported a 1.3 gb OneNote file from my old computer. Took like 5 min to import and another 5 for it to load up. =(
Summary
Over all really good. I also use this in conjunction with Evernote on my Evo 4g.

"printing in Vista 64 bit not supported"
Version: Microsoft Office OneNote 2007
Pros
Great for organizing research. We really enjoyed using this until we upgraded our computer to Vista 64 bit
Cons
The printer driver is not supported in Vista 64 bit. We have not been able find a printer driver and the developer says that one will not be created.

Great program but does not work in Vista 64 bit. Don't bother with this unless you are using a 32 bit OS

"Like Chinese food, fills you up for awhile but you are soon hungry again..."
Version: Microsoft Office OneNote 2007
Pros
Pro: The long awaited 2007 edition offers more widgets, more stability and a more professional look. That's about it. It's not the huge BOK or RA or PIM upgrade we were all pining for lo, these long 4 years.
Cons
Con: This is Note-Taking software with just enough aspects of a PIM to leave you scratching your head as to why MS couldn't just finish the job. For instance, if you want to save web pages or an entire site, like Web Filing Cabinet or other bookmark/favorite progs allow, you are out of luck. OneNote allows you to take a snippet of a page and save it along with some basic notes and highlight's. It is also a text-grabber. Whoop-de-do. The concept of PIM's aka BOK's used to be called "Workgroups" back in the day. I would like to open OneNote to have my manuscripts, web-pages, pics and various proggies laid out just where I left them (workgrouped) when I closed out. Now THAT is a time-saver. OneNote will work with those other proggies to, well, attach notes to their work. So it is parasitic in that sense. It isn't a research assistent, but a tool to use along with the RA you will still need, which probably already has text/pic grabbing and note taking capabilities and sells for half the price. 2007 OneNote is still unstable when transfering your notes to some other proggies, even other documents in the MS suite. But it is much better than 2003 OneNote.
The point is that besides OneNote and LivePad1 there aint a lot of competitors out there in the PIM field. In the day and age of huge personal databases (my own is nearly 100,000 files), why do I need a Searcher/Finder like Copernic to index my files? OneNote will only search its own files. And why do I need another File Viewer? And why do I need a Bookmarker/Favorite prog to save/spider pages or an entire site? What MS is forcing us to do is open up a number of proggies and build your own PIM suite to use a very expensive Note-Taker with and that is just wrong.
However, OneNote is going to be supported for the rest of your life, and you NEED a Note-Taker, then you definitely should try this. 60 days is a long time to try a product for free, so go for it and make your own mind up.
