"loads of gotchas"

"Worked on first try. Very cool."
Version: Mhotspot 5.4
Pros
Easy and quick install. Just opt out of extra crapware, or just uninstall later. (It's free folks; Stop your whining!)
Here's the big one: Does not require two NIC's in the host PC! Just a single wifi adapter is needed. The only free ap I've found that can do this (at least that I've gotten to work.)Cons
No way to make it start automatically when the PC boots. (Have to type an SSID and a password every time it's run.)
No way to have an open (no password) hotspot. (What? Me worry?)Summary
Free, easy, and works on any wifi PC without having to install a second network device. Minor quibbles. Highly recommended.
PS: I have it running on Win7 Home 64-bit. I will follow up when I've tried it on an XP machine. Rumor has it that I'm getting a Kindle Fire HD under the tree, and I'll be at my mom-in-law's house (no WiFi) so I'll need a way to try out the new toy... err, productivity enhancing device... via her Win XP dinosaur.
