This app enables a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth hot spot on your Android device without the need to root it. FoxFi offers great functionality and can come in handy on many occasions. It does have a couple of drawbacks. The free version of this app now comes with usage limit; to get around this you will need to spend around $7, and the app might not function properly on some devices with the latest Android version.

Following a quick and easy installation, Foxfi allows you to use your phone as a Wi-Fi hot spot. There are no extra options to set. All you have to do is download it and open it. This is possibly the easiest hot-spot utility on the market, and it works. It also features a Bluetooth mode, so you may use your device as a modem on a wireless network. Other features of this app include WPA2 password security and customizable network name. The app has a clean and readable user interface with one-touch activation. It is stable, fast, and light on the resource usage. It must be stated, however, that battery usage does increase while using your device as a hot spot. Foxfi does not require rooting unlike most other Wi-Fi tether applications. Because of contract restrictions some cellular providers have blocked this application from the store, but if it is available to you, it may save you money on a tethering service.

Even though you need to pay to use Foxfi to its full capabilities, it is still a very good application and a must-have for anyone who may need Internet access in areas where Wi-Fi is limited or unavailable.

Little slow signing on at times. It will say "limited connection" (no internet) But just have to give it a minute. Not a deal breaker, at all.
Summary
Bar none, this is my all time favorite app. I use it daily and it never fails. Great back up for rare occasions when the power or cable goes out too. During a black, the whole famdamily sat around my laptop watching netflix until the power came back on. $7 worth of insurance against having to actually talk to these people! Simple interface. No rooting.
Cons
The device requires its own security certificate... how am I supposed to know if I can trust the publisher? The free version is a complete waste of time... either pay for the full version right from the get-go, or don't even bother. The "use limit" on the free version is so low as to be literally useless. This device works by opening a VPN connection through the company's servers using your data connection. This means they funnel all of your data traffic through their own servers... which means they can snoop as they please.
Summary
Free version is useless. Full version requires placing complete trust in a company I know nothing about. None of this is advertised... you don't find out until you install it and the Android OS starts pinging you for permission to perform all these actions. They are practicing unethical advertising, and their utility is a security risk. I'll pass, thank you.

Works great, user interface is very simple. I'm actually on it right now. Very seriously thinking of getting rid of my home internet now. Have had three devices on it at once with good speed on my Verizon RAZR max. Have been using easytether for a couple years now and this is much better with the ability of being wireless and multiple users.
Cons
Have used it nearly everyday for about a week and can't really find anything wrong......so far.

Pros
Works most everytime I try. When it doesn't, cycling hot spot off and back on seems to fix the issue.
Cons
Appears to only work on 3G network on Sprint. WIMAX 4G is strong here, but hotspot seems to only work on 3G network.
Summary
Had a broadband modem with another provider. When I relocated to DFW area, that data solution wouldn't work unless i changed plans. FoxFi works well and without rooting on my "unlimited" data plan.

easy hookup, almost does it self. fast internet. Used a Samsung Galaxy2 Skyrocket to hook up to Ipad2 and a Toshiba Laptop

Did not see a byte counter and do not know if I will recieve a letter from my carrier
Summary
I had pdanet on my htc phone and I loved it for emergency use. I now have a samsung and alot of the wifi apps did not work. This does a great job
