Kingsoft Office 2009 provides an excellent facsimile of Microsoft Office's three biggest programs. With a pitch-perfect look and functionality, we were highly swayed by this program.
Since we had a familiarity with Microsoft Office, we jumped right into this program's word processing, PowerPoint presentation, and spreadsheet making capabilities. Its commands were instantly understandable and the entire process felt intuitive. The program's word processor was the spitting image of an older edition of Microsoft Word, right down to the design and colors. We were pleased to find the generous selection of fonts, formatting and spell-checking options we expect with Word. We were worried our files would be saved in some strange format, but were shocked to find they saved as Word 97 documents that were compatible with Word. Our experience was the same for the PowerPoint tool and the Excel tool. Both were also modeled after older editions and worked exactly like we would have hoped, saving files as their respective '97 versions. The program misguidedly attempted to add a special feature to set it apart, but its built-in Google search engine didn't seem necessary, especially as it took no more time to open a Web browser. Since everything worked so well, we found this program to basically be a much less expensive version of Microsoft's tools.
Kingsoft Office 2009 has a 100-day trial. It installs desktop icons without permission. We recommend it.

"This product does exactly what it says its going to do"
Pros: Other than a different looking prompt, as far as I can see it is the exact same program as Microsoft Office and even this distinction doesn't exist in spreadsheet program
Cons: It doesn't think for me. Sometimes that would be nice.

Version: Kingsoft Office 2009 6.3.0.1739
Pros: I cant think of anything
Cons: 1- Most users can get some sort of discount on MS office (work at home rights, student, family etc) so why not simply buy the real thing?
2- No recognition of office 2007 new format
3- Open office is free and does more - duh!Summary: Why is anyone wasting their time trying to compete with the market leader and the best open source products - if you want to do that at least offer something different
