A free program with a laudably simple goal, this download turns PDF files into text format. Its simplicity comes with a cost, however. The interface is extremely plain, except for a handful of prominently displayed buttons and links to the developer's other work.It functions well enough with PDF files that are only text, but when we tested it on files such as e-books that included photographs or calendars with notes, it often had problems, up to and including failing to recognize the file or the graphic elements. Tables were converted, but the end result was often unrecognizable. The program's output can be viewed and saved as separate pages or as a whole. On the whole, we might recommend the download to computer users working with very simple PDF documents, but anyone trying to extract the entirety of e-books or other complicated files should probably look elsewhere.

"It's easy to use and not much hassle."
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: I cannot save what the text that I have edit.

"Worked one-third of the time"
Pros: Easy to load and operate. The price is right.
Cons: Of the 3 files I tried to convert, it converted one, gave me an unhelpful error message on a second, and spent an indefinite period trying to convert the third, which it never did.
Summary: It continued trying to convert even after I cancelled the operation. I had to go to task manager to stop the operation, which used up a large portion of the computer's resources. In all, the program is not worth the trouble. In this instance you get... read more >>

"Did not open protected document"
Pros: Easy to install, but that is to be expected from a small application.
Cons: The reason for installing this product is to be able to copy and past from a protected PDF. This application will not even open the PDF. Cannot see the point in having this piece of softeware, as unprotected PDFs can be copied using Acrobat Reader.
Summary: I am sorry to say that this is a waste of desktop space.

"Didn't open protected PDF document"
Pros: Easy to install. Good looking interface.
Cons: I wanted to copy some text out of a PDF doc. As it was protected I couldn't select and copy thru Acrobat reader, so I downloaded this. I couldn't even open the file.
Summary: A bit more meaningful message than "Error opening PDF" would be helpful. Was the version of PDF too recent? Was it that it was protected? No idea how to solve my problem - the support pages for this product has zero entries.

Pros: Basic Text viewer
Cons: AS long as you don't try and view pictures it fine
Summary: It was ok as long as you are reading text only documents with no pictures needing to be viewed.. It was alright i just need something i can see pictures
