CNET Editors' review
Sometimes the most basic programs turn out to be surprisingly useful. Free Desktop Timer is a simple utility that allows you to create multiple timers on your desktop. This is one of those kinds of things that you might not even know you need until you try it.
Once installed, Free Desktop Timer appears as an icon in the system tray, ensuring that it's always handy when you need it. The program's interface is attractive, with eight different nice-looking skins to choose from. Arrows on the interface above and below the second, minute, and hour spaces let you select the amount of time you want to set the timer for. There are three different sounds--a buzz, a peep, and a cuckoo--and you can also have the program shut down their computer or put it in standby or hibernation mode. Best of all, Free Desktop Timer lets you create multiple timers, which is fantastic if you're trying to coordinate a variety of different dishes that have to cook for different times, tracking how long multiple kids have to stay in time-out, or working on any other kind of time-sensitive projects. The program doesn't have a Help file, but that's no big deal; everything about it is intuitive. Overall, we think that Free Desktop Timer is a great choice for anyone seeking a simple timer--or two, or more--that can live unobtrusively on your desktop.

"Great Little Countdown Timer"
Version: Free Desktop Timer 1.1
Pros
Can have as many as you want. Right-click timer and you can get different styles or skins. It will either buzz, beep or cuckoo to alert you that times up. If you want another timer, simply left-click on the timer and position it elsewhere and there you have 2, 3 or however many you like.
Cons
Zero cons that I have found.
Summary
It's simple, easy to use and attractive. It does what it say's and it works very well. You can even change skins while it's timing and it doesn't get affected! If you want simplicity then go for this.

"Works well, multiple timers"
Version: Free Desktop Timer 1.1
Pros
Does what it says. Stays out of the way. Best one I've tried.
Cons
Starting multiple timers is initially confusing since they lay the new one directly over the old one. I spent a few minutes trying to determine whether it wasn't working, where my other timer had disappeared to, or why starting a new timer made my old one disappear.
-
"It's a timer - plain and simple."
Version: Free Desktop Timer 1.1
Pros
Works - no problems.
Simple, easy to use.
You can set multiple timers.Cons
I would like it better if I could key in the time, instead of advancing it, minute by minute.
-
"great little simple to use timer with one caveat."
Version: Free Desktop Timer 1.1
Pros
Intuitive to use, time can easily be readjusted up or down. Note: If you right button the timer, you can choose a "skin" that has a reduced size.
Cons
It must manually be shut off to stop the ringing - so if it goes off after you've left the house, it is still ringing hours later when you return.
-
"Does as advertised"
Version: Free Desktop Timer 1.1
Pros
versatile, handy, accurate
Cons
None, so far
Summary
Nicely done. Just what I wanted
