CNET Editors' review
Text editors come in a lot of different varieties, from the bare-bones Windows Notepad to more elaborate options that give full-featured word processors a run for their money. Document.Editor falls into the latter category, offering plenty of options for editing and formatting text and saving it in a variety of formats.
Document.Editor has a sleek, well-organized interface, with its menus arranged in the popular and accessible ribbon-style format. Much more than just a text editor, Document.Editor lets users insert images and video, create bulleted lists, and select different fonts. It also has a built-in spell-checker, translator, and text-to-speech tool. Documents can be saved in a variety of formats, including XAML, HTML, DOCX, RTF, and TXT; documents can also be exported to e-mail, FTP server, or WordPress, an interesting option.
Document.Editor is light on documentation, providing a minimum of information on its Web site and lacking a built-in Help file, but we didn't mind; all of its features were things we had seen before, and they were arranged in a way that made sense. Overall, we think that Document.Editor is a great choice for anyone who feels limited by a more traditional text editor and wants the flexibility of a word processor without all the bulk.
Document.Editor installs a desktop icon without asking and leaves a Start menu item and folder behind upon removal.

"Nice features"
Version: Document.Editor 2013.9
Pros
When I read the description of the program in Download.com I was very happy. It listed a lot of nice features. I downloaded it and used it a little so far. It has numerous little buttons that do quite a bit of features. It also has menus in tabs.
Cons
I tried to open a htm file, but it was not part of the list of files it could open. I made a copy of the htm file, put it in another folder, pasted the copy, changed the extension of the file to html and I was able to open the file, but since it had Spanish words then the letters with accent marks appeared as reversed colored question marks. Since the file was large then the program was very slow. I closed it. I created a blank file and typed sentences in the program. The speed was normal when I was typing. I selected three sentences, clicked on the Speech button and the voice was the Microsoft's Ana agent voice. That worked well. The most likely allows the users to change it to a male voice if wanting to do that. I am going to keep the program and I am going to continue using MS Word and the CesarUSA Text Editor BS2 as my main word processors. I wonder if Document.Editor does not yet support Unicode. The other two word processors I mentioned do support Unicode.
Summary
It can be very slow for long files. It has a set of nice features. I will add it to the text editors I use. It is too bad that Document.Editor does not support the Spanish language characters. The web pages I tried from the program worked, but not the semagsoft.com website did not. I opened a large RTF file (more than 200 pages long) and the program was taking more than a minute to open it. I clicked on the text window when reaching the 1.5 minutes and the program became non responsive. You would need to wait until the program goes back to normal. Therefore you should not use this program for very large files. It currently requires that the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 (or newer) be installed in the computer. Software programs that use the .Net framework run slower than the ones that do not. I will use this program for small files and use MS Word and CesarUSA Text Editor BS2 for all sizes.

"extraordinarily slow"
Version: Document.Editor 2012.10
Pros
Installed OK
Cons
Offers of sweetIm and ASPCA, are made to seem as if they might be necessary to install. Once installed, it seemed to hang opening a 5k rtf file. Possible it isn't happy w/ older .Net (1 and 2) on test system. At least Uninstall.lnk seemed to go smoothly.

Did someone at CNET forget to take the editor out of WYSIWYG mode when coding? :) *Heheh!* *LOL!*
