CNET Editors' review
CrossLoop provides a quick, easy, and completely free way to give a colleague, a friend, or a relative access to your computer. After installation, your PC will be assigned a 12-digit access code each time you start the program. You then give that number to another user to virtually share your desktop. Once connected, that user will have full access to your machine.
The odd nature of sharing a desktop cursor and the inability to add multiple users makes CrossLoop illogical for proper business presentations. However, the complete system access and 128-bit encrypted connection combine to create a great solution for low-budget, long-distance tech support. Guests can use any app and save files on your computer, as if they were sitting in front of the machine. No router configuration is required--a big plus. File transfers are now supported, but the purpose here remains collaboration: CrossLoop doesn't work without explicit permission from the host.
Since simplicity is a key attraction, it lacks more advanced features, and the connection must be made in two minutes or it times out. While the interface and the features are simple, CrossLoop offers a secure and fast method for two users to collaborate on one PC.
Publisher's Description
From CrossLoop:
CrossLoop is a free, secure screen-sharing utility designed for people of all technical skill levels. CrossLoop extends the boundaries of traditional screen sharing by enabling non-technical users to get connected from anywhere on the Internet in seconds without changing any firewall or router settings. It only takes a few minutes to setup and no sign up is required. Security is built into all aspects of CrossLoop. Session data is encrypted at the end-points before being sent using a 128-bit encryption algorithm and a randomly generated 12-digit access code. Explicit permission is required before any screen images are sent to a remote computer. CrossLoop is a secure tool to remotely assist any PC on the planet.

"Worked as advertised!"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
Software worked as advertised. I was having trouble getting other Remote Control products to route through my firewalls. This was not problem. TightVNC is an excellent tool.
Cons
The connection dropped twice and I had to re-establish the connection.

"AMAZING"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
I think this software is amazing, and extremely easy to use. I use it to help my parents out or anyone that is unfamiliar with computers. Anyone can use it, and it's so easy I can explain how to do it right over the phone when someone needs help. Make your own name and password and your on your way. I recommend this program to anyone that travels far away and has computer problems.

"Connection doesn't last very long"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
My first virtual-connection-network software. Liked the ability to control the other computers remotely from one place.
Cons
Connection lasted only for a limited time. Considered using the file transfer capability to transfer LARGE file from one computer to another. Relatively slow file-transfer rate. Connection closed before transfer completed. So, the task FAILED.

"This is a GREAT PRODUCT"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
I liked the quick installation and the fact that I can use CrossLoop on my Vista and XP computers to access each other. I also like the file tranfer component of this product and my ability to actually control the programs on my XP computer from my Vista computer.
Cons
I don't like that the program only gives me 2 minutes to log on to my client computer.

"Seems to work ok"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
Tried it today for first time and it was so easy to connect. Was able to run the other computer just fine. This app is going to save me lots of traveling time.
Cons
A little lag on the screen I was using. Not overly concerning though.
-
"Works well and quickly connects to host computer"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
The small program downloaded quickly. Easy to figure out how to use the program. Setup and connection of host and joined computer were very easy. Control of the host computer was like I was sitting at the host keyboard - just a bit slower in response.
Cons
Unless I missed something, CrossLoop cannot be used to control an unattended computer because the host computer operator must get the session code to begin the session. But, it does very well what is designed to do.

"The gas and time it saves"
Version: CrossLoop 1.11
Pros
This is an awesome program. No more 40 minutes drives to fix simple problems on family computers. It works great and it'd FREE. I like the fact that it gives you a different access code each time you use it .
Cons
No issues yet
-
