Version: Clarizen
"Team NOT Project Manager solution"
Pros: Current Project Management solutions are either an overkill of functionality and require much investment and training (e.g. MS Project /EPM) or, to the other extreme, offer very basic To-Do list / Task Management features (e.g. BaseCamp or some open source solutions).
Clarizen addresses the more common team scenario where a bunch of people (inter or intra organizational), dependent on each other to complete a task/project/process, need to get a project planned and executed collaboratively in order to ensure project success.
Furthermore, using the applied knowledge capturing features (Such as templates, attached documents, notes and discussions), project structures and data can be reapplied to future projects thereby saving significant time and resources, which at the end of the day is the most precious resource for these teams.
After using the system for the 30-day free trial period, my team came to conclusion that the time savings and collaborative nature of Clarizen's SaaS product will significantly boost our productivity level and strengthen our competitive positioning without the need to increase our headcount by a single person.
Cons: It takes a while to get the hang of the web-based solution, especially if you come from the world of MS Project. As opposed to those endless Gantt charts, Clarizen's unique project Roadmap illustrations are by far more informative, dynamic and useful for getting the bird's-eye view of projects.
Same goes for Reporting. Coming from the Excel and Project world, you are constantly seeking that one-click 'Report' button. With Clarizen the entire Home Page (Dashboard) is a living report that offers up to the minute info about any given project.
Note: From what I am told, Clarizen will introduce advanced reporting features in Q1 2008, and allow exporting to Excel.

Version: Clarizen
"A great project management tool for every team. Intuitive, feature-rich and cool"
Pros: Web based (nothing to install) with free 30-day trial. Does not require any training, yet packed with powerful features that make it easy to manage many projects. It's one of the only tools that really allow the team to work together. Allows reporting on task progress via email -- very cool!
Cons: Some advanced features are missing, but the fact that this is the first tool my team is actually using on a daily basis more than compensates these minor gaps.
