Over time, downloading files and browsing the Web can take their toll on your PC's performance. That's why periodic cleanings are important to keep your computer running on all cylinders. For that, you need a tool that can scour your hard disks for junk files. CCleaner Portable is just such a program, and it performed without a hitch.
CCleaner's user interface is professional and intuitive. A link to an ample Online Help feature is included, but we were able to jump right in with this program. Four options run down the left side of the window: Cleaner, Registry, Tools, and Options. We started with the Cleaner, which let us check off the Windows and Applications features we wanted to clean. We opted to clean our IE cookies, history, and saved passwords as well as empty our Recycle Bin and Clipboard. On the Application front, we opted to clean our Firefox cookies, cache, and history information as well as various multimedia applications. Clicking the Analyze button revealed any issues. From there on, we were able to click the Run Cleaner button to remove the files. The Registry option acted in much the same way, letting us check off on what we wanted scanned for issues. But tread carefully here if you're not in familiar territory since tampering with the Registry can cause serious problems.
We especially liked the Tools section, which let us uninstall programs and customize our start-up programs as well as manage our System Restore points, making this program truly a one-stop shop. CCleaner Portable comes as a ZIP file. Since it's a portable application, it requires no installation but runs when it's clicked. And what's more, it's small enough to save on a USB to take with you wherever you go. We highly recommend this program for all users.

It does a quick and thorough cleaning. It is easy and intuitive to update and run.
Cons
It may be the way that I have my files arranged, but the new updates do not pick up my settings for cookies and such. I have to go through and do it manually for every update.

It's portable, and that's the only Pro I can think of (over the "installation requited" variant of CCleaner).

No cons that I can remember at the moment.
Summary
This program works as it's supposed to, though the need for such program in the first place is arguable. Obsolete files won't slow your computer (you'll only get some disk space back, but considering the size of modern hard drives it doesn't matter much), and same goes for the so-called "invalid" registry entries; no matter how many of them accumulate over time they won't slow PC's performance.

Summary
CCleaner will save you in your time of need. For example, take the recent JAVA exploit (when you are tricked into downloading a web viewer.) You can start CCleaner and remove it with the Tool and Uninstall. You can wipe your free space with 1 or multiple passes. You can choose what to analyse from an easy to use menu. Use it when you get offline or at any time to clean out your cookies or troubleshoot.

It works great for Non-Technical Types and the Portable Product makes it easy to keep with me on a USB Stick. I enjoy the way they keep it up to date with Current Operating Systems. I donate money to them every once in a while to Help keep up the Good Work.
