CNET Editors' review
It's hard to tell if registry defraggers and cleaners work, but the Auslogics Registry Defragger looks good. It's hard to gauge if these programs are effective because once you're done using them, you'd need more than a mere store-bought machine with store-loaded programs to judge CPU speed.
When you run it, it tells you that it will perform a registry analysis, after which you will be able to review its registry report, and once that's done with you can run the registry optimization, requiring a reboot to defrag and compact the registry. It's a fairly serious program, and once you begin the analysis it won't let you move the mouse outside the program window. It also "strongly recommends" that users close all other programs while it runs, although this is a standard warning for registry-cleaning apps.
An expected change in clock speed or other performance benchmarks never materialized. Resource-intensive Internet browsers and e-mail clients may be piggish, but they're necessary and don't load any faster or slower than normal after running the reg defrag. Until a registry defragger or cleaner can demonstrate benchmarkable improvements to a computer, they'll be little more than 21st century snake oil.
Publisher's Description
From Auslogics Software:
Microsoft Windows and various programs access the registry a few hundred times a second. Therefore a fragmented registry is one of the major reasons why your computer may be so slow. Auslogics Registry Defrag can significantly speed up your computer by helping you defragment registry, remove gaps, and make it contiguous, smaller and faster to access.

"Works good with netbooks"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 4.1.6
Pros
used this application with my N150 Samsung Plus netbook
Cons
none at all
Summary
I was apprehensive about downloading this application in to my N150 Samsung Plus netbook with a windows 7 starter but I did upgrade my netbook to a 2GB before I did and took the chance. My netbook is only 2 months old but has slowed down a lot I downloaded Auslogics Registry Defrag 4.1.6 that works extremely well along with Auslogics Registry Cleaner 2.0.5.50 both are doing the job and yes I do see the different.

"Not bad"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 4.1.6
Pros
Free, fast, and light. It actually works, too. The interface is very nice, too, and I like the before and after display after you reboot. However, I recently found ERUNT (registry backup) and NTREGOPT (registry optimizer), and apparently it increases the performance of my system a bit more than this. But, if you prefer thorough GUIs over a slightly increased performance, I'd recommend this.

-
"Decent, harmless program, but pay attention to this"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 4.1.6
Pros
Very straightforward interface. Easiest learning curve since learning how to breathe. Relatively fast execution of task. Small memory and HDD footprint.
Cons
The defrag engine is weak and lacks intelligent debugging. Yes, it may literally "compact" your registry and get rid of SOME unwanted code, but will create almost negligible, if completely unnoticeable speed differences. On one machine, it actually made boot-ups and program executions somewhat slower. I ended up ditching this software for a different brand, and the new brand found over 800 errors or misaligned registry values that were being loaded... needless to say, the new brand (TuneUp Utilities 2008) actually did a true defrag AND deleted most of the unwanted BS in my registry, and made a very significant improvement in performance across the board. Auslogics may do some good, but not nearly as good as other programs. My advice: spend time with other utilities like the one I mentioned, which are much more thorough.

"Excellent Software"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 4.1.6
Pros
Did everything it says it does. You get what you expect and the results are perfect. Seriously. I love this program and would recommend it to anyone.
Cons
Just on my end, the terminology thing. (e.g., MRU's). Thought I knew what those were. Now I do. And no biggie on the loss.
