From Ashampoo:The end of fragmented disks. Really. You probably have better things to do than worry about whether the hard disks on your Windows computer are getting fragmented. Just install Ashampoo Magical Defrag 2. This radically improved program keeps all your computers hard disks defragmented. Permanently. Just install it and forget it. Your hard disks will never get fragmented again. And Ashampoo Magical Defrag 2 does this without slowing down your computer or interfering with your work.

Instead of having to remember to defrag disks, Ashampoo Magical Defrag will keep up with the task with little intervention on your part. It may not be magical, but it is a practical approach to a job that needs to get done but often gets forgotten.
The user interface is pretty basic, but the straightforward design makes it easy to navigate. Settings options allow you select the hard disk(s) that you want to include in the defragmenting process. Once you click the Defragment Now button, setup is pretty much finished. Ashampoo Magical Defrag goes to work when your computer is idle. You can pause the program, but otherwise you don't need to do anything. If you're really interested, the defragment screen visually displays the process. Tiny, color-coded square symbols show you the amount of free space on your hard disk. You can also opt to show weekly statistics, display the taskbar icon, and to cease running the program while in battery mode. A statistics summary tells you how many files were defragmented and how many clusters of files were moved, so you can keep tabs on what's going on behind the scenes.
An extensive Help file will answer questions you might have along the way. The program comes with a very generous, 40-day trial period. It doesn't get much easier to keep your disks defragmented, and we recommend Ashampoo Magical Defrag for all users.

Version: Ashampoo Magical Defrag 2.34
Pros: Oh, this might not be the best tool of it's type but it's one of a handful thats smart enough to know that a Drive image on another hard drive can't be defraged. Others show a 40GB drive image as a mass of fragmented files, not this one!
Cons: Theres not much to complain about except it's not free. For "Ashampoo", giving this as a freebie wouldn't hurt their business one bit. However, it's cheap enough & my keys been working ever since v2 was released so I'm satisfied my $15 was well spent
Summary: They seem to be back on track with this release. Even though theres a couple of nice free ones, I'll keep using this in conjunction with the defrag module in the new version of "AusLogics Boost Speed". That combo keeps my systems running great. In m... read more >>

Version: Ashampoo Magical Defrag 2.34
"Excellent utility, I wouldn't be without it."
Pros: Set and forget. Uses minimal resources, and only works when the system is idle.
Cons: Zilch. Nothing. Nada.
Summary: By its very nature, Windows instantly fragments any new downloaded file. To me, it makes sense to defrag this as soon as possible to make less work for the hard drive mechanics by keeping a file in one block thereby prolonging the life of the drive.... read more >>

Version: Ashampoo Magical Defrag 2.34
"Good Solid Inexpensive Programme"
Pros: A proactive rather than reactive prog. Uses little or no resources as it works away in the background. Hogs nothing. Does its job when it detects no user activity. Never bothers the user. Inexpensive.
Cons: It doesn't make tea. The interface needsa a facelift
Summary: I have 2 x 500gb drives which can take an age to defragement. Magical Defrag has removed the need for me to regularly attend to a tiresome but very neccessary procedure.
