CNET Editors' review
Though they required minor editing, this file converter quickly and easily converted our PDFs to Word, Excel, and other file formats. We were, however, disappointed by its double-whammy of a trial limitation.
Able2Extract PDF Converter has a sleek and professional-looking user interface. Intuitive commands and navigational buttons reside at the top of the window. Novice users will especially appreciate the tips and the step-by-step guide it employs to walk you through the conversion process. The process was extremely easy and fast. Once we located our PDF, it was simply a matter of selecting the text we wanted to convert, and clicking on the file format icon on the toolbar. When we converted the PDF text to a Word file, we did have to clean it up a bit, removing a few extraneous lines and characters, but the text itself required no editing whatsoever. The program also has the capability to convert PDFs to HTML, Excel, and text files, which worked perfectly when we put them to the test. The Batch Conversion feature let us add multiple files to convert to the same file format in one fell swoop, a very handy tool for users handling numerous files.
The program offers a built-in Help feature. We were a little put off by its meager seven-day trial period, and three-page conversion limit. We also had to manually remove files during the uninstallation. But despite its few drawbacks, we highly recommend this PDF converter for all user levels.
Publisher's Description
From Investintech:
Abl2Extract is a powerful PDF Converter tool that lets users convert their PDF data into formatted MS Excel spreadsheets, editable MS Word documents, Publisher files, forms, powerpoint presentations, Autocad (DWG, DXF), Open Office, image formats (jpeg, bmp, png, tiff, etc.), HTML and more. A2E has its own proprietary PDF viewer that allows users to select exactly what they want to convert. Our custom Excel conversion option lets users graphically designate how they want their PDF data converted into excel and then save the template for future use. This ensures perfect conversions into Excel. A2E also converts XPS documents into Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher and more. XPS is microsoft's PDF competitor available in Vista. A2E allows users to better utilize data in certain formats such as financial information and database reports. For example, users can select and convert financial tables and other tabular data directly into Excel rather than inputting the data manually, i.e. PDF to Excel, PDF to Text, HTML to Excel, etc. A2E is a standalone Windows application that does not require Adobe Acrobat. Able2Extract 7 has PDF to Publisher conversion that allows users to convert their PDF documents into formatted .pub files where they can be edited in the powerful publisher. This will be especially valuable for users working with legacy publisher documents that were previously unusable in PDF. Licensing: In addition to the full license for $99.95, a 30-day subscription license is also available for $34.95.
What's new in this version: Version 7.0 offers a new GUI, pdf to publisher conversion and a more powerful custom excel conversion option.

"High-Cost but High-Value"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Downloads quickly and easily; Helpful balloon tips guide you on exactly what to do first time; Most importantly - worked very well in converting a PDF form to an pretty-much exact Word replica
Cons
Trial version limitations; High price
Summary
I tried various other converters that just failed to convert. This worked quickly, straightforwardly, and well. Halve the price and I might even buy a copy!

"Works Great"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Did exactly what it is supposed to do. Converted all kinds of text numbers and data to excel. There were multiple columns that needed to be converted and I did have to cut and paste the extra columns into one big column, but no complaints!
Cons
Hard to come up with a con
Summary
Doesn't say freeware! Doesn't say unlimited pages. Purpose is just to show you it works and it does....nicely. Is $100 bucks expensive? For one time use, sure, but if you will be repeating the conversion over and over on multiple documents, the time it saves is certainly worth $100.00

"Only works for a while"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Simple to load into software
Cons
It is a bait and switch. It worked when I bought it, but after a couple days, it said I needed to "upgrade".
Summary
For $99.95 it should work for more than a couple times. I converted three files when I bought it. Then did not need it for a couple days, I came back and tried to used it, but it said I needed to upgrade to "Professional"! I've been taken. Too bad it is not a US company.

"Unable to convert a single PDF to Powerpoint"
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
attractive GUI - looks professional and friendly
Cons
I need a product to convert PDF to powerpoint for training material i have to revise. I downloaded the trial version, and have been unable to convert a single file. Other evaluation products worked successfully
Summary
The point of a trial version is to promote the product. The trial version seems to be loaded with bugs, if any of the other reviews are anything to go by. I need to convert PDF to powerpoint - one error gives me a long chinese character string and "an invalid argument was encountered". Alternatively, it just hangs and there was a third error on a large PDF. Clearly, if the trial does not work I will not buy. I also looked at Okdo's offering - although the authors clearly do not have English as a first language and the interface looks like something from MS-Dos, it converted the files accurately and swiftly (1st 3 pages only) and created output files.

"Good but expensive."
Version: Able2Extract 7.0.11
Pros
Simple interface, help boxes guide you through the process. Fairly good results.
Cons
You have to get the Pro version if your file contains text and numbers. It missed some fields that I wanted converted and it took some time to straighten out the mess.
