This application monitors and analyzes a system's performance, but you won't find any operational functions here. Magnalis PerfPro's standard GUI interface features a chart window and a channel bar, offering real-time visual analysis of your PC's hardware and software performance. You're also given a few aesthetic options, such as font preference and chart color changes. To execute a certain assessment, just select any object, counter, and instances from the drop-down lists. We like that information is gathered as soon as a test is started, and you can view reports even while evaluation is underway. As far as reporting goes, the program is fine, counting detailed descriptions of performance counters and a comprehensive listing of statistics. Fortunately, you'll be able to save and print charts and reports, or save all as scripts. We would like to see a memory optimizer, a file shredder, or even a defragmenter for an overall system optimizer. All in all, system analysts, administrators, or any user who wants to evaluate the performance of her PC's current arrangement can use this program for the standard 30 days before deciding if it's worth the price.

Nice replacement for perfmon

Pros
Using this app to replace perfmon.exe that ships with Win2k3. Installer treds lightly without disturbing system files. Automation model is easy to learn and use. Comes with loads of examples to copy and paste code from. The ability to access very low level perf counters (that are not accessible with perfmon.exe) is a big plus. Like how historical information is stored and can be scrolled to during data acquisition. Ability to compare current values to prior runs is also useful. Easy to set arbitrary scaling for axis (500,000-600,000) makes it possible to see details that would be otherwise lost with perfmon. Ran a 60 hour test session with 20+ channels being sampled every 5 seconds. Frugal resource usage with little to no impact on system.

More graphing options like logarithmic scaling.

Pros
Downloaded this 2 weeks ago. Unlike the windows perfmon this app can actually record data for over 100 seconds. Used app to monitor some 96-hour stress tests. Not a problem. Very nice reporting capability. Can actually print the data without resorting to screen captures. Easy to use. Anyone familiar with perfmon already knows how to use this. Extra features not found in perfmon like printing, clipboard and reports are no-brainers to use. Used this app to automate some of the standard tests we run. Automation API is fairly intuitive and easy to use. The 20-30 sample scripts gave some good automation examples. Couldn't automate some tasks like printing but can automate saving data to disk. Go back later and print manually. Nearly everything is customizable. Colors, ranges, reports, fields can all be tweaked the way you want. This tool isn't for everyone but if you need a real performance monitoring tool this is worthy of a look. After this you'll never use perfmon again.
