  Summary

  I have used my CanoScan LiDE 30/N1240U for over two years and find no fault with it! I use with XP Pro Laptop. The bed is large enough to scan three 5x8 pictures in the legal size scanning bed. The aluminum cover takes some punishment - the plastic bottom is sturdy and keeps the unit light. No external power required - runs on a laptop's USB power. It is great for scanning pictures at relatives houses. It handles matter up to 1" thick; it fits in a briefcase or 17" laptop case. It locks shut on the front for transport. The last time it was priced it was just over $40.00.
