Romanovs100 is a mobile app that activates augmented elements in the #Romanovs100 AR Photo Album that tells a personal image-based story of Russias last Royal family. The app, when used with the album, provides an immersive journey into history triggering multiple unique experiences. See photographs become educational explainer videos, examine 3D renditions of the royal family, engage with unique then-and-now photos and more.

The purpose of this app is to extend storytelling limited by print, and to allow readers become active co-creators of the unfolding story. Through mixing AR with actual photos, the book breaks traditional print format boundaries to create a new kind of history text that is informative, engaging and interactive designed to educate and inspire future self-learners.

#Romanovs100 is an online documentary "photo-puzzle" which merges a large set of visual data with transmedia storytelling to piece out the big picture of a lost Russia. This is the story of the Empires last royal family through thousands of their own photographs published across 4 social networks, accounts on each network showcasing their own narrative, format and content.
