Dearest warm-hearted (and isolated) humans,
Frustrated with getting nowhere in online dating? Feeling defeated by what social distancing has done to your dating life? So are we.
Weve had it with unfocused communication. We are tired of endless swiping, infinite matching distracting us, and conversations that go nowhere. Were so over being ghosted on. Far too much time is invested in dating apps for far too little in return, right?
Driven to fix what is broken in the online dating space, our team at paird has created a dating app experience we feel is the closest thing to being close. Weve added simple, real-world elements like voice notes and anti-ghosting features, and weve purposely left out photo filters to encourage users to share their true selves.
We ask only one thing. Please take the time to explore our entire feature set on paird; we are not another swipe-and-match dating app. If you come to our app and do exactly what you do on other apps, you will have the exact same outcome and that is not our goal. Our platform allows you to learn more about the people you are connecting with, so please put effort in and expect the same from others.
Curated dating-relevant content
Many dating apps integrate Instagram into a dating profile. We love Instagram, but not every image or video we post is ideal to attract a mate. How many photos of a sandwich, a funky chair or a sunset do potential pairs need to see? We have bridged the best of our competitors with a semi-social feed that is only populated with users who have shown mutual interest and paird with one another. Just as your posts populate your pairs feed, their posts populate yours, and these photos and videos help them learn more about each other before landing face to face.
We believe so much in authenticity we removed the photo filters we originally added to the app. We want people to know exactly who they are engaging with. We also encourage people to feel their real selves are their best selves. Real life doesnt have a filter setting. Why should a dating app?
(anti) Ghosting feature
Ghosting has become rampant due to low effort in post-match conversations. On a dating app, individuals can vanish on one another without having to explain themselves or take ownership of their actions. This sucks, so paird has taken steps to solve this problem with a two-step behavioural design approach that nudges users to maintain communication.
First, the (anti) Ghosting feature gives the power to users by allowing them to decide in their settings the maximum time they would like a chat to be inactive before it disappears. Then, the system gently encourages the user who is about to ghost to come back to the chat, as their profiles will soon "unpair". Users also see in their chat screens a ghost icon overlaid on that pairs avatar a reminder the pair and chat will soon disappear. No longer will people be able to hide behind an online platform.
LET'S VIDEO CHAT
An illuminated blue avatar shows you whos available for a video chat. You can only see whos available for a video chat when you have indicated the same. The clock resets every morning so you will know in real time who is up for a video chat today.
What better way to get to know someone than by hearing their voice? We believe hearing peoples voices offers a deeper glimpse into who they are. Love a photo on someones feed? Want to express it? Why type it when you can say it?
