Fashioned to tug at your moral fiber, this application says it will send records of your questionable surfing to a pal for scrutiny. X3watch's interface is rather blah in appearance and simple in its mission. It asks that you first enter your e-mail address and name and then asks for the e-mail of an accountability friend. You also can enter a recognizable nickname so your buddy knows the report is for you.If you visit a Web site with pornographic content, the program logs the site and in two weeks or four weeks (your choice), your friend will receive a report of your objectionable browsing habits. After configuring the software, the only other options are to change your user name, the report period, or to delete one friend's address, but only if two are listed.
The far-off, limited scheduling leaves us guessing as to whether it will work, although we did immediately receive a welcome e-mail message outlining the program's service. Since it can be easily shutdown, we can't say it's the best option for parents or those attempting to curtail serious addictions.

Version: X3watch 5.0.5
"Does what it says it does, 2 thumbs up"
Pros: it reports on any questionable websites, and also if you shut it down.
Cons: Would be better if you could get it to remember all websites and log them.
Summary: good freeware that's reliable

Version: X3watch 5.0.5
"Don't listen to CNet's editors - X3watch rocks."
Pros: CNet's writeup is predictably biased....as if they can't understand why anyone would want to be held accountable in an effort to avoid porn. Normally they actually use the products they review. In this case, 2 stars and no experience.
Cons: Not available for iPhone yet, but they're working on it - beta testing is under way.
Summary: X3watch is just what any man of integrity needs. And don't confuse integrity with a misplaced sense of confidence in your own strength. No man of integrity belongs on the internet without some form of filtering or accountability in place. Men, yo... read more >>
