I use Firefox as my primary browser, always have always will. I kept noticing that the Opera browser was listed under my programs. I never used Opera and never downloaded it on my behalf. I would go to add/ delete programs and remove it and within a day, the Opera browser kept being installed on my PC. went crazy with this for weeks on end. Did google search and found others who had same issue. one day I was had cleaned out my PC, ran virus checks, malware checks, deleted Opera again and then I ran Vipre update, Boom, there it was, during the Viipre update the Opera Icon reappeared on my desktop. That proved that Vipre was putting Opera back into my PC. Something I didn't want or asked for. I have since uninstalled Vipre and not use Avira free antivirus. Problem solved.
When I first got Viper Internet Security Suite on my laptop purchased from HSN I ordered the 2013 version. Worked great until due to hard drive reg problem.
Found out the hard drive registry was screwed up from vires, corrupted files that Viper was suppose to block, but did not. This was found out after I purchased a new laptop and installed Viper. To fix this a contract company named IYogi got me to pay $149 for one year. Two months later while still running Viper more unfiltered garbage.
Now Viper wants $100 to do the samething and suggested that I buy windows office. Why I do not know. All I want is for these companies to do what they said they would and not charge me extra fees. I don't know about the rest of you but I am pissed. If this problem is not solved one way or the other, I will blog every site that I can find for all companies involved. It will cost them so much to counter my blogging that something will happen. As for not avoid Viper (when you try to contact them all you get is contractors wanting more money) DO NOT USE WITH WIN 8, 8.1, OR 10. They don't do what they promise. Since they must have a rating to submit this I have to give them a one, They desire a -10
Doesn't slow you down (because it doesn't do anything) easy to use.
IT DOESN"T WORK!
I got this when I first got my laptop and I originally thought it must be the computer why it kept messing up and slowing down or things wouldn't load, This product allowed so much junk to come on the computer and reset settings it's unbelievable. My touch screen stopped working, I lost Admin I had to replace the hard drive 2x. I wrongfully blamed dell and they were so nice they replaced it under warranty. My warranty ran out and it was doing it all still so it dawned on me to install the Kaspersky I have on the desktop and try my code from there (I didn't think I had an extra use but I guess I did) I went to download my lightshot again which I did every time with viper(my browser is auto-correcting) and it said all was fine well Kaspersky said oh no it isn't IMMEDIATELY and took about an hour undoing the mess that viper completely missed restarted and the comp was displaying some of the same symptoms as before and Kaspersky pops up and says lets do this check, fixed all the junk it changed and poof good as new. DO NOT EVER GET THIS PRODUCT, IT WILL SERIOUSL JUST SIT THERE AND LET ANYTHING DO WHATEVER IT WANTS AND DESTROY YOUR HARD DRIVE!
Bought it and had to uninstall. We live remote and internet is capped at 10 Gb / month on a Telus smarthub. Above that it's highway robbery $5 per Mb
Vipre updates definitions several times daily... 100 Mb per update. Between my laptop and my wifes, Vipre drained our 10 Gb pretty damn quick.
I also kept downloading a huge 95 Mb "beta" update for some reason, but in would never install properly on either laptop. Automaticly it kept downloading that fu**ing beta update over and over all day long, on top of the definition reloads.
I used several bandwidth monitoring programs, and they all showed Vipre was the bandwidth pig. Had to uninstall. We never went over 7-8 Gb a month previously, but Vipre made it impossible
Switched to Comodo for free. The updates are tiny, and its up on a whole new level higher than Vipre. Comodo Rocks !!

Problems contuine ,it removes my stuff have to use system restore several times ,it just don't run right , disables start programs , have had to re-install what it makes dissappear /Not worth the 79 bucks going back to AVAST ...
UPDATE : Was on phone with Vipre and he was amazed that he couldn't install 2014 , finally had to use their cleaner uninstall and after many tyrs got 2014 package in --BUT it did whipe out all email and mail folders ??
If a software upgreade is announced I most likely won't do it , at subscruption end I am not renewing , also blocks pages I normaly used as threats or un apporiate content ??
It's had no problems tracking Viruses or Malware that I would encounter from time to time. The program I find to be very dependable and reliable from my experiences in the past. I just downloaded the 2014 version of Vipre and hope it is as good as the 2012 and 2014. Vipre is the fastest program "in all functions" I've ever used. I do recomend Vipre Security..

Re Loading from the disk after a few years can be a problem but, Viper's down load site saves you a lot of time and steps. If you have a key# keep it for verification...
Vipre is a good system to have for Your Security needs. I have had a few others before Vipre and there is no comparison. I hope this helps you out in making a decision.
I tried this based upon other reviews and a reputable site that had it listed as a number one application, Ease of use and easy to figure out are the only pros here.
EVERYTHING, the entire program is a CON, the software creator is a CON. It in combination with my poor attenuation from my cable provider managed to mess up my Network stack so bad I couldn't even perform a manual reset of the stack and reinstall everything manually to the card interface before it failed less than 24 hours after the first time.
This software absolutely sucks I had to do a system restore to the 7th when I had JUST done a re-format. don't bother even using this piece of junk.

Not only did vipre screw up my operating system and my network it NEVER restored files I told it to and permanently deleted them, not only did it do that it removed them from my cloud based storage drive as well! STAY AWAY from this software AT ALL COSTS! This software is that bad... I had files I've had for YEARS that were actually clean get permanently deleted and I have no backups or no way of re-downloading some of them. I'd love for vipre to reimburse me for the money I spent on some of those things that I can now not re-download but I doubt that will happen. I am pushing Cnet to remove this program and file from their database and downloads as Vipre IS a Nuiscience ware and not only that it is a SCARE WARE as well... this WILL delete files that you know are alright and will NOT properly restore them. VIPRE in my professional opinion is a Trojan or Malware in itself.
very cheap and lots of profit to be made reselling this crap to poor unsuspecting end users
I would steer far and clear of this like the previus commenter said use your pole to give it a wide berth. The program rarely catches anything when its installed and if i could give it less the a .5 rating i would
Misses some malware Technical Support can be slow and unhelpful Can wipe out valid programs Updates other programs behind your back, even when instructed not to do so Won't uninstall properly
I've used Vipre Pro for a couple of years, but recently it let in malware. I asked for technical support and, after a delay, got a response containing just a link to a page on their website which basically boiled down to "It's probably the fault of Microsoft or some other program, so contact them". I protested strongly and finally, after a couple of days, got hold of someone who was prepared to help. This was far too late for me as I obviously needed to use the computer (for work, apart from anything else), so by that time I'd uninstalled Vipre (or so I thought...) and installed other protection. However even this hadn't been easy as parts of Vipre were still there and stopping some antivirus trials installing. I tried using a Vipre clean-up program as well, but still no joy. Apart from other problems, I'm being prevented from visiting some (legitimate) websites and, because Vipre isn't installed, I can't whitelist them as I did when it was installed. Every time I try to uninstall Vipre using heavy-duty clean-up programs, I'm informed that Vipre isn't installed...
Vipre has also, during its life with me, wiped out programs on memory sticks without warning - uninfected and legitimate, if small and idiosyncratic, programs and tools which I needed.
