Vipre Antivirus and Antispyware requires Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista; it is not compatible with Windows 95, 98, or ME, Macintosh, or Linux. The 15-day free trial is fully functional; a review of the paid product can be found on CNET Reviews.
Installation takes a few minutes and does not require a reboot. After installation, a wizard asks a few predictable questions. Overall, the Vipre interface is one of the cleanest we've seen on any antivirus product. It's intuitive and easy to use. Four tabs across the top take you to Scan, Manage, Tools, and the overview page. Much of what we like about Vipre is beneath the hood--which is where it should be. Vipre scored well in both our CNET Labs' Windows XP performance tests, however, there are no public, third-party tests that we can point to at this time.
What we like most about Vipre, though, is that it packs a lot of extras--extras that other antivirus products should have but often do not, such as a secure file eraser that writes 1s and 0s over deleted files, a history cleaner that goes beyond just what's in your Internet-browser cache, and something called PC Explorer, which reveals processes and services running that are suspect or known to be malicious.
Many of these tools are also featured within Sunbelt Software's standalone-antispyware product, CounterSpy v2. Missing from Vipre is firewall protection. Sunbelt Software does not provide an uninstall function; you will need to use the Windows Control Panel's Add and Remove Software feature.

"I recommend Vipre to everyone."
Pros: I've been using Vipre for a year and so far no nasties have gotten through.
Tiny footprint on system resources.
Some neat little extra tools came with it.Cons: none that i can think of.
Summary: I've been running Vipre for about a year on both Windows XP and 7 and have had no threats get through. It also has tiny footprint on system resources. The only time I ever notice this program running is at 1 a.m. when the scan takes my computer ou... read more >>

"Powerful but lightweight tool"
Pros: It is lightweight and doesn't tie up my system like the other services did. It was like a heavy burden was lifted off of my computer. I have never had a problem using Vipre. The scans are quick as far as virus scans go.
Cons: It's not free
Summary: Vipre was a breath of fresh air for my computer. When I took my PC into the geek squad for an upgrade, the associate mentioned that he's never seen a system with Vipre that had a problem with spyware and viruses. Since installing Vipre early in 2009... read more >>

Version: Vipre Antivirus + Antispyware 3.1.2842
"It's the best of the best. Keeps all the bad guys out."
Pros: Ease of Installation. Inexpensive. Constantly updates itself giving continuous protection. Norton and the others do not. This sucker catches things the others don't. Will never change again to anything else.
Cons: Not available for Apple products.
Summary: A friend told me about it. Since I trust his opinion I downloaded it immediately, disabled Norton, and installed it. Wow. It caught stuff that Norton never did. That was enough for me. After 3-months of using it, I decided to become a dealer. ... read more >>

"Works when others have been diabled."
Pros: Small footprint, quick, and WORKS. 15 day free trial lets you get rid of the bad stuff and is enough time to see that this software does exactly what the company claims.
Cons: None really.Would like a better solutions to set up programs for it to ignore (known good software).
Summary: As stated above, it does what Sunbelt Software claims it will do. My tests at home with it on multiple PC's, netbooks, laptops, and customer PC's made my decision to switch our company systems to the Enterprise edition from CA products. I haven't loo... read more >>
