This program stands as a capable tool for capturing PC activities. ViewletCam's interface turns out to be a mixed bag. We liked how the program employs a time line for easy video editing, but the tools for selecting windows and screen areas were rather inconvenient to use. In our testing, the application did a good job of recording a full-screen game with sound. You can save your videos as self-playing EXE files or SWFs, although the sound quality was rather poor when using the latter format. The utility offers an impressive set of editing tools, including those for cropping, splitting, and joining files. We especially appreciated the feature that allows you to create full-fledged tutorials and software presentations. You can soup up your clips with sound comments and annotated arrows, and you also can add buttons so users can rewind or fast-forward your movie. Unlike many similar programs, this one didn't appear to have a negative impact on system performance. From what we've seen, ViewletCam makes a solid choice and can be especially useful to computer instructors.Publisher's description

Version: ViewletCam 1.71
Pros: Incredibly easy to use. Nearly painless.
Cons: If you choose full screen capture, can crop desired portion, but poor capture. If you choose a specific screen area, will capture near perfect (sound too), but won't capture anything but the top left corner of screen. No way to select area to be captured. Hope the developers continue. With respect to the powerpoint add-in, I would really like to see it work smoothly.

Version: ViewletCam 1.71
Pros: This is one of the cheapest demo-authoring tools available and for the price it's fairly robust. It's very easy to use and the resulting files are Flash-based, so users don't have to download a special viewer. It's a great program for creating software support/training videos.
Cons: Doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as the more expensive packages. The audio and video import features are only fair. Built-in graphics editing is pretty poor, but you can import graphics from other apps.
