From UBCD4Win :UBCD4Win is a bootable "live" CD which contains software that allows you to repair/restore/diagnostic almost any computer problem. All software included in UBCD4Win are freeware utilities for Windows. UBCD4Win is based on Bart's PE. Bart's PE builds a Windows "pre-install" environment CD, basically Windows booted from CD. With network support, the ability to modify NTFS volumes, recover deleted files, create new NTFS volumes, and scan hard drives for viruses. This project includes almost everything you need to repair your system problems.

"Good, but some outdated freeware"
Pros: Lots and lots of tools that can revive a computer that cannot boot by gaining access to a GUI and then use system utilities. I was able to run a better checkdisk and defrag than Windows offers.
Cons: Nine of the utilities are either end-of-life or out of date per Secunia Personal Software Inspector.
Summary: This is a really great tool for reviving computers that have problems from bad patches corrupted files, or basically most software issues. There are great instructions for how to build and burn the .iso. Some tools are out of date though, so I would... read more >>

Pros: It worked and did what I needed it to do.
Cons: Fairly technical, but I guess if your at the point where you are creating boot disks, maybe it has to be technical.
Summary: I used this along with Macrium Reflect at after reading another poster's remarks about the boot disk creation process in the free version of Macrium Reflect. I had a bit of trouble getting the plugins set up to connect the two products. Ultimately... read more >>

"Long download. Somewhat intimidating for a novice."
Pros: Has a lot of features.
Cons: Long download. Burning instruction are a little confusing.
Summary: First burn was a failure. ( I think it was my mistake) I'll try again tues. when I get more disks. Hope it can help me save my main PC. I'll report back on progress and experince.

"Apparently I'm still a novice"
Pros: There is nothing I like about it.
Cons: I really could not understand how to use this program.
Summary: People come to me to help them with their computers. I know I don't have all the answers but I also know enough to help some people out. I thought I was no longer a novice. Apparently I am.
