CNET Editors' review
Although it might be a bit too technical for average folks, this tiny, free utility nonetheless offers a helpful set of optimization tools for more advanced users of Windows XP. TuneXP's interface is certainly no beauty, but since all of its tools are accessible via menu items, it's simple enough to operate. The Memory and File System section lets you perform tweaks such as accelerating DLL unloading and defraging boot files. The other system tools are organized into categories such as Internet, Hardware, and Services. While many of the program's features will go over the heads of those who aren't technically inclined, we're glad the help files fully explain what each part of the program does. Best of all, TuneXP is totally free, making it a fine pick for those who suspect their OS could be in better shape than it currently is.Publisher's Description
From DriverHeaven:
This radical, new tool is one of the best and most powerful Windows XP tweakers ever, having a few tweaks, which are unique to the program. Among them are: ultrafast boot (rearrange boot files); boot folder defragmentation; prefetch folder cleaning; DNS cache optimization; and file allocation size tweak. However, that isn't all. It includes a plethora of other performance tweaks, which will make your Windows installation run faster than ever before, as well as Windows Service configuration. For the first time ever, it allows the user to control a few of the most common performance suckers and annoyances.
Version 1.5 has a few major fixes to its code, as well as new tweaks (USB polling and what now).

"Improved boot time"
Version: TuneXP 1.5
Pros
The boot time on this mature XP system has definitely Improved. Noticeably. It's not like new out of the box, but of course there's more installed and running than that.
Cons
Could be more explanation as to what it's doing.

"The simple things in XP"
Version: TuneXP 1.5
Pros
The raw, simple tweaks that actually worked throughout the life of XP are in this. Simple install. Remember to stick to what you know.
Cons
I would have liked to see one or two tweaks more customizable but, for the most part, that would be overkill.
Summary
There are only a few common tweaks in XP and later MS OSs that actually make any noticeable improvement. Ignore hard-core tweakers unless they know your set-up inside and out; this does the few simple changes to make things a little smoother, particularly on older hardware. Again, stick to what you know. This is totally free and is not a residual-runtime app. Make the changes and that's it.

"excellent little program"
Version: TuneXP 1.5
Pros
I installed this on Vista only to move the boot files and it worked as advertised. It made a massive improvement in my boot time.
Cons
The only issue is when first starting, it says something about not finding files to start, but you just click OK and away you go. I don't really hold this against the program because it is not certified for Vista in the first place.
Summary
Try it out, I'm sure you'll like it

"SWEET !!!!!!!! Really awesome product !"
Version: TuneXP 1.5
Pros
This is one of the, if not the best program that is out there to fix slow booting issues, and best of all; its FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!
Cons
There was nothing that I could find that I didnt like about the product, as others have said (and agree) you have to know what you are doing before clicking on this and that.
Summary
My desktop was taking forever for the past few days to loadup after reboot (nearly 2 minutes) for just my desktop items to load, taskbar etc. Even my themes were being automatically turned off on me until I went into services to have to turn them back on only to have it happen again a while later on following reboots. Ive googled several sites on how to fix the issues I was having without absolute results. Without realizing I had this issue, I happened to create a restore point with my paragon backup program (by the way is also a very good and useful programming ... saved me from being the king of OS reformates). In just about 5-10 minutes of time versus the past couple of days of trying to figure out the solution to the problems I was having, this fixed them all so far so good.

"Add to your Tweak COLLECTION, but you'll need others."
Version: TuneXP 1.5
Pros
A few tweaks are unique to this little tool, but some are useless (e.g. UDMA-66) for newer machines (i.e. with SATA drives).
Cons
Hardly the most comprehensive tool, but keep it in your toolbox... for legacy machines/purposes. Try the following 3 (the first one is a real powerhouse): NirSoft Utilities, TweakNow, PowerToys/TweakUI for XP.
