CNET Editors' review
This straightforward backup utility makes it a snap to safeguard and synchronize your files, and its freeware price just sweetens the deal. Surprisingly flexible for a free program, SyncBack can save your files anywhere: on external hard drives, in ZIP archives, on network drives, on CDs (using UDF), or transfer them via FTP. Recovering from a drive loss is also cinch, with a convenient restore tool that replicates folder trees along with the files in them.
It lets you define multiple scheduled backup jobs so you can just set 'em and forget 'em, allowing users to create specific backup jobs for certain folders or file types. You can control the way files are compared and selected for backup: the program comes with ready-made profiles to make the process as easy as possible. It's hard not to like that SyncBack doesn't use many system resources when working in the background, and backups can be set to export their logs to an HTML file for easy viewing. All in all, it's an excellent choice for home users and small businesses.

"Crappy Junk"
Version: SyncBack 3.2.10
Pros
It's ok if you want a copy program - but then I can just drag and drop if I want to copy stuff. The ONLY advantage to syncback is you can set up a profile to repeat the same drag and drop routine automatically.
Cons
This isn't a backup program, it's a copy program. It doesn't create a "single" archive file in which backed up files are stored, compressed, as does a true backup program. It just copies from one drive to another. Also, at the end it creates a log that tells you how many files weren't copied, but it doesn't tell you which ones they were. So I copied several thousand files, and if my computer crashes, I'll have no idea which critical file may not be recoverable because the ?*&% program doesn't give you the information. Worthless. Less than worthless, because it wasted a lot of my time - it's also slow.

"Try it, You Certainally won't hate it"
Version: SyncBack 3.2.10
Pros
I found every feature I wanted in this software and a load more I didn't know I wanted. Setting up profiles is not difficult and you can twist and configure them to the Nth degree. I Loved it so much I bought the Prop version and Im glad I did but this free version in a no nag generously feature SW and if you cant find the feature your looking for in it check the list for the pro version and its a snip
Cons
Nothing is flawless but this is damn close. Some of the power features are only in the pro version notably
-Run Profile on device connect
-File and Directory database store for fast 'dumb' backups

"Free; simple if you just want to back up "My Documents." Has some weaknesses"
Version: SyncBack 3.2.10
Pros
1.) It's free.
2.) It's simple to use for many backup/synchronization applications
3.) Offers many options, including ZIPing the output, verification, and so on
Cons
This program has lots of good features and one highly annoying failure. It allows extreme flexibility in most areas and has many options for backing up a system to an FTP server, network server, NAS drive, internal/external drive, or drive with removable media. Perfect, right?
Except, if you want to do something complex, such as copy everyone's Documents and Settings, ignore the Windows directory, and copy lots of data, you can hit a very simple but fatal snag. If you miss one of the many, many hidden and/or system files Windows sticks all over itself while it's running, the system will crash (often, after a long, long run). There is no option for you to say, "If file on source is locked or in use at the time of the backup, issue a warning message and continue." Nope. The system issues a Failure log and stops.
The first time you run this program against, say, a loaded 250-gig SATA HDD and backing up to, say, a USB 250-gig PATA HDD, it seems to fail when you are four or five hours into the run. You correct the problem (un-checking the subdirectory for the files you don't care about which caused the failure) and run it again. Five hours later, CRASH.
Annoying? More than annoying. Even the horrible Windows Backup program will issue a warning flag and continue to the end, on the (logical) assumption that it is better to back up all the data you can than to blow up when you're very near the end and discard all the work. You see, the system will NOT let you restore data from a backup which fails -- you must have a successful backup to restore your system from.
I gave up and went back to the Windows Backup. Meanwhile, I'm still looking ...

"Wow! I wish I had this utility before."
Version: SyncBack 3.2.10
Pros
Saved me a lot of time backing up files. Its lightning fast compared to windows built-in copy+paste routine. I have to test it in real-world application. Not that I'm not in a real-world.

"The best backup and synch tool"

I'm using it for 6 months already.

"Does all I need"
Version: SyncBack 3.2.10
Pros
For a free program, this is great. It's got a huge variety of options, but it's pretty easy to go through the screens and select what you want to do. I like also that you can set a schedule for specific backup profiles - I have my frequently updated folders backing up every day, while less frequent ones are a couple times a month. Really good stuff.
Cons
Haven't found any so far, except that the process of backing up into a zip archive the first time is real, real slow. Try running a backup without the compressing turned on, then make a zip file yourself using the program of your choice, and changing the profile settings accordingly.
