CNET Editors' review
This fine pop-up blocker won us over with its effective performance and unexpected extra features. Since Super Ad Blocker sits in your system tray and can be added to your Internet Explorer toolbar, it's convenient to access no matter what you're doing.
The application's logically organized main window is split into tabs for ad blocking, history cleaning, cookies, statistics, notification, and options. In our tests, the program did an excellent job of quashing all types of pop-ups, banner ads,Flash ads, and Google ads when using both Internet Explorer and Firefox. You can add allowed sites to a whitelist.
This program's antispyware tool performed quite well, stopping the vast majority of adware that tried to run on our system. The malware scanner also did a decent job. Beyond its prowess with pop-ups, Super Ad Blocker also lets you clear your Web-surfing and Windows histories. You also can view statistics on blocked-ad types and frequencies.
Users who need a high-performance pop-up blocker, spyware protection, a history cleaner, or all three certainly will benefit from Super Ad Blocker.
Publisher's Description
From SuperAdBlocker:
Super Ad Blocker blocks all forms of advertising, including Flash ads, rich media, fly-ins, slide-ins, pop-ups, pop-unders, spyware and adware ads, and messenger ads. The program blocks over 1,000,000 major spyware applications, sponsored search-engine ads, and Gmail-sponsored links, and it includes advanced privacy cleaning and automatic updates, so the product is never outdated. Super Ad Blocker provides detailed statistics for the number and type of ads blocked. The application plays a fun sound when an ad is blocked to celebrate your victory. The scanner features a kernel level driver designed to help detect and remove 'rootkit' style infections. The ad-blocking now blocks IntelliText ads that appear on Web pages as double underlined words that show a window when hovered over.
Version 4.6 adds additional Windows Vista support and ad-blocking and spyware definitions.

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS SOFTWARE!"
Version: Super Ad Blocker 4.6
Pros
ABSOLUTELY NONE!

Summary
I don't know what it is about this site, but they seem to hawk problematic software. I've had it with C-NET. This recent episode is the final straw. I recommend staying away from this junk software.

I have Win7 ultimate pro, using Google Chrome and I assume that my program had become permanently useless, as I see no plans to ever have you issue a release for either Win 7 or Google chrome. Is there any development being done?

Hi Jamie,
I am not sure what the developers are working on at the moment but they are certainly aware.

For less money there are several excellent programs available. Check CNET and Google. $19.95 will get you the ad muncher with a 30 day free trial. I downloaded it last night and have not seen any more ads or auto start videos. So in two words: It Sucks.

"Works well but has one extremely annoying feature"
Version: Super Ad Blocker 4.6
Pros
Blocked most pop-up/unders really well
Cons
I like the "Open in New Tab" feature in IE 8 but for some dumb reason it is disabled, only "Open in New Window" is there and I prefer tabbed browsing to the point that I won't use this program until tabbed browsing is restored.
Summary
FOOEY!

"Does not block ads and messes up tabs"
Version: Super Ad Blocker 4.6
Pros
None. It doesn't work.
Cons
Removes saved tabs in Firefox. Doesn't block banner ads, which it says it does.
Summary
Not only did it NOT block banner ads (which it said it did - I already have a pop up blocker so don't need that and don't know if it did that at all) - but it removed all my saved tabs in Firefox. I had all those tabs up for a reason, and now I'm going to have to spend hours figuring out what they were again. I really hate this product. Norton told me it was a bad program, and I didn't believe it so I disabled Norton and continued the install, and now I seriously regret that.

"Does not work well in Safari"
Version: Super Ad Blocker 4.6
Pros
It will effectively block pop-ups & destroy ads...but
Cons
It caused the browser to freeze up-you can't even force a shut down-you can't shut down your computer-you have to turn it off & when you turn computer back on, problem still exists.
Summary
Ad Block needs to correct this error if it wants to continue. I have a Mac but it did the same thing on my PC too.

"IT'S HORRIBLE"
Version: Super Ad Blocker 4.6
Pros
It does block ads.
Cons
Locks up computer, no customer service, 30 money back guarantee? How are you to get it if NO ONE answers support or the phone # provided by Discover Card?
Summary
Your a fool if you buy this. Customer service is just a word with this company.

"Blocks ads fine, but tries to do too much"
Version: Super Ad Blocker 4.6
Pros
Blocks all ads perfectly
Works fine on Win7
Works fine with I.E. 8Cons
multiple unwanted 'features' that actually interfere with browsing:
unwanted pop-up blocker blocks non-ad pops
unwanted malware defense
unwanted system scannerSummary
I dunno what those other guys are talking about with regards to Win7 and IE 8 ... I installed it on my Win7 pc with IE8 accepting all default settings and it worked absolutely perfect with regards to blocking ads. The perfect place to test any ad-blocker is the icanhascheezburger site ... they are infested with externally fed ads that hog cpu and memory and often lock up my browser completely. The downside is that SAB also blocked non-advertisement functions -- when I try to open a webpage in a new tab, SAB's default pop-up blocker automatically blocked that function. I went into the settings and disabled the pop-up blocker, but then it forced links to open in new windows rather than in new tabs as I wanted. Doing a right-click on a link and selecting 'open in new tab' resulted in the link opening in a new window every time. If you need a pop up blocker and an anti malware scanner along with an adblocker, this apps should do the trick. If, however, all you want is an ad blocker, this app tries to do too much and gets really annoying really quickly.
