This spyware scanner and removal tool does the job, but enabling some functions may cause slight slowdowns.
Spyware Terminator's crisp, clean interface uses simple buttons and tabs to operate and set options. The latest spyware signatures are automatically downloaded, and the real-time protection keeps baby-sitting to a minimum. Real-time protection monitors key spyware types and Windows objects, though slight system slowdowns depend on your machine. Those features and the simple scheduler will make this app appealing to novices.
Advanced users will appreciate Spyware Terminator's flexibility. Setting the sensitivity of various scans is as easy as moving a slider. Pros: Seemed to work when it wasn't locking up computer
Cons: Computer would lock up with neither mouse or keyboard working. Had to force power down to reboot. Lockup was repeatable and went away once I removed Spyware Terminator.

"Works very well, catches many dangerous sites."
Pros: Ease of use. Install it and then react to warnings when they come. Does well on scans for problems.
Cons: Sometimes questions sites that should be okay.
Summary: Does a good job of helping me keep my computer safe.

Pros: Shockingly good HIPS/behavior protection. It reminds me almost of Threatfire(I can't believe I said that). With ClamAV, good detection of older(1 month or older) spyware/malware. Internet Explorer browser protection similar to Spywareblaster.
Cons: No other browsers than IE get protected. ClamAv Shield gets labeled as malware by Advanced system Protector and Avira(Trojan.win32.unpck). Past history of Web Security Guard being known as spyware will haunt Crawler,Inc. for a long time.
Summary: Get Spyware Terminator without web security Guard and with ClamAV and you have decent, although not excellent protection. You'll need Spywareblaster to protect Firefox or Kmeleon. Older infections are what you want Terminator with Clam for, not newe... read more >>

"Awesome app that lost real time protection on 64bit"
Pros: Provides comprehensive real time protection for users with automatic free updates and scheduled scans! Pleasant and intuitive interface. Also provides optional bulit in AV, WebShield, HIPS, Immunize and other cool features.
Cons: They lost the real time protection in 64bit systems and don't have current support for it. I will be looking forward to when they finally implement support for this and will use it again at that time. All other features still operate and protect.
Summary: I really enjoyed using this app on my XP 32bit machine since it offered a whole host of protection options with FREE updates, scheduled scans, AND even real time protection! It is very customizable and pleasing to look at with multiple functionality... read more >>
