CNET Editors' review
Out of the box, this is one of the best freeware macro managers you'll find, though novice users might be overwhelmed. RemoteKeys' interface is as fluid as the program is flexible. You'll do well to spend time with the extensive manual application. From preferences to profiles, you'll find it very easy to configure this application to fit your needs. Most functions have multiple configuration methods; most either pull-down or hot-key based. This program doesn't discriminate against button pushers or hot-key users as either method is easily assigned to any macro.
RemoteKeys makes a simple process out of automatically sending keystrokes to most applications. You can easily create 2,500 editable buttons over 10 profiles. The program includes dozens of buttons that cover the gamut of functions available. You'll find it easy to edit them to perform new functions or follow their structure to build entirely new macros. An included recorder makes it simple create macros out of everyday tasks. Intermediate users and above will like this flexible and free utility.
RemoteKeys is a powerful tool, but expects users to be careful. There are no guards in place to check macros for potential damage to your files and operating system. Advanced users with a penchant for macros will have a field day with this utility. Other users will find it daunting to learn, but powerful to use.
Publisher's Description
From Detlev Schaefer:
RemoteKeys replaces complicated keystroke combinations with simple mouse clicks, so you can easily send commands and text modules to any application. It offers 10 user profiles for each of the 250 buttons, and these can be assigned by hand or macro recorder. Send text modules into letters and words into HTML forms and password requesters.

"High earning curve for some thighs. No trojans found"
Version: RemoteKeys 8.7
Pros
It is like a touchboard. It has buttons that you click and would do tasks. I ran 3 antivirus programs (AVG antivirus, Avast, and Malware) and found no trojans or viruses.
Cons
It is hard to understand for some of the features. The help manuals were originally in German and were translated in a way that could be hard to understand. No exit button or menu from the Systray. It opens several systray icon for each window.
Summary
The help file comes in English and German. Some buttons would give you quick access to Windows programs and accessories. Right clicking on the program at the systray would to the same than left clicking on it. Click on Profiles and then on #6 to create your own buttons (type a name for it and a text at the text area, then open MS Word and click on the button to see how it would paste the text in there. The problem is remembering what each custom button does. It has a button that would display a keyboard, but it might not match the one you have (some customization might be needed for some of the keys).

"Trojan horse found!"
Version: RemoteKeys 8.7
Cons
I scanned it with AVG, which found a trojan horse.

"works good for what I need"
Version: RemoteKeys 8.7
-
"easy macros for just about anything"
Version: RemoteKeys 8.7
Pros
once you learn how to program this -- just about half an hour -- you can make it do anything. I've used it to insert html code automatically and I've used it to tweak game files. Right now I'm using it to start a new game in Chessmaster while keeping a tally of the number of games I've played. Whatever you can do on the keyboard this will do at the click of a button or with hotkeys.
Cons
it should be more popular. where are all the gadget loving geeks out there?!
