Editors' reviewThis simple application quickly encrypts/decrypts documents, but PicoCrypt could stand some tweaking. The program immediately goes into action, as it doesn't install on your PC. An easy drag and drop of files into PicoCrypt's very simple interface quickly encrypts/decrypts documents, though integration with Windows would also be helpful. We found the Blowfish Cipher Block Chaining 128-bit encryption algorithm adequate, but a couple of alternatives would have been nice. PicoCrypt uses the commonplace MD5 hashing of the usersupplied password to seed encryption. You can set a single password for an entire session or force it to ask for a password each time. Though it can process multiple files at once, PicoCrypt wastes time since it can't simply encrypt/decrypt an entire folder. You must repeatedly drag and drop the files instead of simply selecting the folder. Finally, it doesn't give users the option to rename the encrypted file, but instead always overwrites the file when encrypting. We think this freeware program best suits those who occasionally need a small and easy-to-use encryption utility without the need for multiple algorithms.
This is a small encryption utility that uses Blowfish encryption algorithm in CBC mode. It is easy to use and support multiple files drag-and-drop. It is portable and run on your USB memory stick anywhere you go. Very useful for users who want to keep their documents secure on their computer or transfer over Internet using insecure channel. Version 0.1.1 implemented password re-type verification to prevent mis-typing of password, a new option that allow the application to stay as the top most window, and Remake the image of the application icon.
