From Traysoft :PhoneTray is an easy-to-use caller ID software. It shows and speaks the caller's name and number before you answer the phone. PhoneTray logs all your incoming calls and can reject any unwanted call by answering and playing selected message. PhoneTray can automatically zap telemarketers with a special disconnected tone. It can play federal do-not-call warning forcing telemarketers to remove you from their calling lists - by law.
Version 1.26 adds zapping by name, and an option to enable quiet time without answering calls and playing quiet time message.

Pros: I've been using this freeware program since 2003, and now finally you can block by name only or both. Didn't have that feature. I block all long-distance, out of area, private, unknown .. If you're not on my list then you just can't get in even if you press *82 before you number. Local callers can get in..
I use this program along with YAC Caller ID Server which comes with client software to install on wired and wireless devices on your network. Amazing it works! Phone Tray can talk in a female voice telling you who's calling you can set it up and change cell phone caller to Bob is Call from his Cell. And Phone Tray will would say that out loud. What I like you can leave those real callers who are a pain in the neck some rough messages, but you really have to stop them from calling you about buying junk you don't need.
Cons: Would like to be able to have the CSV that it stores the calls in better sorted so you could actually use the info. Good to look up names and phone numbers, that you can't remembered.

"Best Caller ID Program I've Tried"
Pros: I must have tried 20 different caller ID programs. This is the one that works. Not only tells who's calling, but allows you to block selected callers. With a voice modem, you can even play messages to the caller before disconnecting them. The Do Not Call List is not the total answer . You also need something like PhoneTray.

Pros: Easy to install, and works great. For us it was a much better solution than buying a phone with a display. We have our computer hooked to our stereo, which goes to several rooms, so we can hear who's calling from all over the house.

"Just like a caller id box and answering machine...only better!"
Pros: This is one of the most useful programs I have downloaded in a long time. When my phone rings, the caller-id info flashes on my computer screen so I don't have to look at the phone. It also has the capability to program numbers and names for friends/family as well as an "answering machine" This feature can be customized according to whether the call is unavailable, unknown, toll free, etc and depending on how you program it, different messages will play for the caller. The only thing it doesn't do is record incoming messages. Overall I highly recommend this program if you want a caller id screen for your pc.
