CNET Editors' note: This beta version of Opera is pre-release software and should be used with caution. Pre-release versions are inherently less stable than official releases and you should be aware that such software can cause problems to your computer system.
Publisher's Description
From Opera Software:
The beta version of Opera 11 introduces a host of new features not available in version 10.
Opera's popular Speed Dial has been greatly enhanced; your favorite pages now have clearer previews, and dials can even dynamically show live content for websites. There is now no limit to how many dials you can use, and it is simple to adjust the Speed Dial view to best fit your setup. Click the plus button to add a new website and type the address, or choose from a list of suggestions. Edit the name if you want to make it all yours. Web developers can now also optimize the Speed Dial thumbnails, so you can see what is happening on your favorite sites in a glance.
Opera's graphics and interface are enhanced to offer a sleek, modern look so that its features are easy to discover and use. The new design gives it the feel of a finely tuned browsing machine. This version of the Opera browser now supports CSS3 linear gradients and multiple columns. The Opera browser shows webpages using the latest and greatest standards in their full glory. Opera has also made it easier to install and use plug-ins. With this release, the most popular plug-in, Adobe Flash Player, installs seamlessly and automatically.
What's new in this version: This is the first Opera 11.60 (Tunny) Release Candidate. A Release Candidate could potentially be released as the final version if there are no issues that are serious enough to block the release. If there are any issues that are not critical, please wait for the next Wahoo (Opera 12) snapshot, and discuss it there instead. Windows users will notice that we have removed the native skin. Rather than having to maintain two separate skins, we're putting more effort into improving the standard ski... See all new features

"Seems to have better browsing than Opera 11.5"
Version: Opera 11.60 RC
Pros
-It seems, with the websites I go to, have better compatibility with more advanced HTML and Javascript than Opera 11.5
-Also seems faster than Opera 11.5. Very fast browsing.
-Wide range of useful extensions. And all of the ones I've used work with alpha.
-Seems very stable to be in alpha.Cons
-Still a memory hog. Even worse than Opera 11.5.
-Even though its better than Opera 11.5, it still doesn't correctly show all websites. I have to open IE to display them correctly.Summary
As I've said for 11.5, I would use this browser 100% if it were to display all websites correctly, because the browser is that good.

"Awesome! A very satifying browser"
Version: Opera 11.50 alpha
Pros
Fast as lightening and looks better than previous version (on skin and font appearance).
Cons
I've only been using it for 2 days but haven't seen any negatives to report.
Summary
Firefox 4 or Opera are the best. Chrome has too many shortcomings. This new Opera is the best of them all I think.

"It just keeps getting better."
Version: Opera 10 Release Candidate
Pros
Quick, light, secure, love they layout and ability to change it around. Plenty of add-ons.
Cons
Not totally convinced with Turbo.
Summary
Don't usually go in for Beta's, rather wait for the finished product, but I couldn't wait for Opera to update. I bit the bullet and I'm not disappointed, it works beautifully.

"Tried all: chrome, firefox, explorer, avant, and opera."
Version: Opera 10 Release Candidate
Pros
Fast, customizable and dependable.
Cons
A few missing features found in other browsers.
Summary
firefox - great features through extensions, but is SO slow (boot up, loading pages)
chrome - doesn't load some pages (requires refreshing or not at all). choppy scrolling while loading picture heavy sites. missing features found in the others.
opera - has the features found on firefox through extensions (mouse gestures, bookmark syncing) but has the speed of chrome (fast boot up and page loads)
the only cons i can say is that firefox has a little more choice (ie, better adblocking; opera u have to do it manually and it misses a lot) and opera is a little more quick (although the scrolling is more smooth while loading graphic intense websites). also, using a netbook, screen real estate is very important and chrome removes the unnecessary title bar, however opera let's me remove both the tab bar and location bar and i just use the keyboard shortcuts to navigate.
some things i found on opera that i don't think are on the other's which is very useful is the customizable search ability. typing "g" first in the location bar will let you search straight into google, y for yahoo. you can also very easily create your own, so i have gi for google image, r for rotten tomatoes and i for imdb.
also, since i do not have the tab bar (to save screen real estate) their pop up box with the list of tabs is very useful.
the bookmarks bar resizes first by title then by size so it will nearly always hold all your bookmarks instead of the expandable double arrow. bookmarks can also have nicknames that you can type to open the bookmarks and their speed dial front page also assigns numbers to the pages that you can press.
their speed dial page also can increase or decrease in number.
the improvements they can work on are the adblocking, catching up a bit in speed to chrome and removing the title bar. my last gripe is chrome's autocomplete in the location bar is more useful as i do not need to press down on my arrow key to autocomplete. -
"The browser everyone is trying to copy!!!"

Cons
- No in private browsing yet!
Summary
Some day people will evolve to the most intelligent and practical browser ever made.... Goodbye Firefox, I already evolved!

"Great User Interface, Addons, Speed, Ease of use"
Version: Opera 10 Release Candidate
Pros
1.Speed
2.Great graphics and cool modern design
3.Addons are great like Firefox
4.Speed dial will show you all the websites you have up in a thumbnail view, very cool
5. Compared to IE this is much faster and nicer lookingCons
1.Full release isn't out yet but by the looks of the RC, it is going to be great and I will use it as default
2.if you have too many addons, the web page space gets small
3.the name Opera, but don't judge a browser by it's coverSummary
I tried out opera in it's beta stage and didn't really like it much. Now that I downloaded the RC and heard all the great reviews on it's speed and capibility I decided to try it out again. They really changed a lot around and it is much nicer looking and faster than when I first tried it. I will be using this as my default browser when the FULL RELEASE Comes out at the end of 2009. If your using IE8 , it looks similar interface, its not as small and hard to use as firefox and things can be obtained much easier than in firefox. i used FF for its speed and addons, but this thing is much better and looks tons better than FF. i tried google chrome and wow is that puppy fast but its still in its beta and nothing works at all. this browser has all of the browsers best capibilitys put into one...its got IE8's nice user interface with great graphics and pretty modern objects, its got firefoxs addons and its got close to chromes speed. chrome will always be the speed king because its so light on resources and it cant do much. its simple. chrome took everything out just so the pages would load fast, but this browsers got so much added on and still has fantastic speed. try the RC out and you wont be dissapointed.

"Great Improvements."
Version: Opera 10 Release Candidate
Pros
- Very fast
- Elegant interface
- Page loads beautifullyCons
- Opera Turbo needs some work.
Summary
Opera had always been my favourite browser besides Firefox. In this version, Opera had improved a little bit on its speed, and is quite stable for a BETA version. But, the flaw is, the Opera Turbo did not speed up the page loading like what it claimed to do. Instead, the graphics quality decreased, and I think the normal loading mode works way,way better. Overall , Opera 10 is a great browser. They just need to work a little bit more on the Opera Turbo.
