PDF conversion is an essential part of business. A program that quickly and easily does the job is always in demand. Unfortunately, Nitro PDF Professional still doesn't live up to these high expectations, but it has improved.
Nitro looks like the real deal. It has a start-up wizard that offers to answer any questions and walk users through the process of converting files to PDF, or vice versa. The program's interface has been refurbished to make it look more like Office 2007, offering a layout that mimics Microsoft's button design and layout. Create and Convert, Insert and Edit, Review, Forms, Secure and Sign, View, and Help are the tabbed options. As in Office 2007, click one to open a row of buttons below it. These controls are where the majority of your actions reside, so using the program is largely a visual experience.
Despite the more user-friendly layout, Nitro PDF Pro's was hit-and-miss. The first time we tried batch conversion from PDF to Word the program froze and crashed on the second document. The second time, it worked fine. Other conversions went well, but commands such as Open Folder or Open File after conversion tended to result in inconsistent behavior. Single-shot conversions, whether initiated via the file browser or from drag-and-drop, were flawless. The trial is 14 days, but the program is otherwise unencumbered so it's possible to get a good feel for it. Because of the hiccups we encountered, we'd recommend not purchasing it immediately until you've ascertained that Nitro PDF Pro does precisely what you need it to.

- Extremely slow on large, complex documents
- Office plugins very unstable, MS Office often asks to disable them.
- Poor Batch Job FunctionalitySummary: A good looking PDF editor that looks much more appealing than Adobe Acrobat (it uses the Ms ribbon style toolbars). Once you start using it for some serious work though, it fails miserably.

"Cannot remove trial software"
Pros: CutePDF does a better job for less money.
Cons: Cannot remove software after you install trial. Office toolbar cannot be removed and I had to buy uninstaller software just to get rid of it.
Summary: Not worth the money there are as good or better programs available that don't hijack your computer.

"Extremely bad for scanning documents"
Pros: Works fine with images and docs you already have
Cons: Good luck using this unstable software to scan more then 3 documents in a row to create a PDF.
Be prepared to invest several hours of headaches trying to scan several documents.Summary: AVOID THIS PROGRAM AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ARE SCANNING DOCUMENTS

"Trial period without technical support"
Pros: Best alternative pdf viewer for readability in my opinion, although Foxit comes close.
Cons: Technical support costs extra. No way for you to ask questions while testing.
Software can only be activated on two computers, and a second license costs $79.Summary: While I like the clarity of fonts this software provides, it has some major shortcomings in terms of customer satisfaction.
