Version: Mindjet MindManager Pro 6
"Ther best tool to develop ideas"
Pros: First I recommend reading some material about Mind Maps. Then, buy this software and you will become addicted to developing ideas to its limits.
This software helps me design web pages, business ideas, it also helps me with my day to day tasks... I've even made my Home's "rules" with it.
Cons: The price isn't cheap but what you can achieve with this software makes paying the price an investment worth every dollar.

Version: Mindjet MindManager Pro 6
"Good software for presenting ideas"
Pros: This software is a very powerful tool for developing and presenting ideas in a graphical format.
It is intuitively structured and reasonably easy to learn, with or without the inbuilt tutorials. I found that the more advanced functions are not all that well documented, but most of it is easy enough to figure out.
The ability to attach documents/files, notes, excel spreadsheets and the like enables one to maintain the visual simplicity of the document, while simultaneously including a lot of detail.
The free viewer to enable those without this software to display documents in native format is an advantage, as is the ability to export to a variety of formats, including pdf, html, powerpoint and word (as a text outline only).
Probably the best software for its purpose
Cons: Despite many advantages the software has some rather annoying flaws that make it fall short of five stars. Moving topics around the work space is not as easy as it should be and the software will often re-arrange the position of the topics that you had carefully positioned just where you wanted.
The software is not well adapted to creating cause and consequence type of diagrams. While there are automatic outline styles for structured flow charts (ie. Topic, sub-topics, sub-sub-topics), there is no ready structure for creating causal relationship (ie A and B cause C and C causes D). To create these sorts of flow charts you need to use "floating topics", which requires much more manual handling, pretty much prevents any meaningful export into Word (because the software doesn't recognise the floating topics as part of a structure) and creates problems when exporting to powerpoint and HTML (for the same reason).
The export into HTML is imperfect, sometimes failing to create links to attached documents without manual editing (which is beyond the skill-level of most users).
Despite these criticisms, it remains a very useful software, but a bit of additional flexibility would make it perfect.

Version: Mindjet MindManager Pro 6
"The best all-purpose organizational tool."
Pros: Mindjet's MindManager is easy to learn, versatile and adaptive, smoothly integrates, maintains & updates information from all my MS Office products. It is easy to share information, and that information is easily understood by everyone in a visual and intuitive manner. MindManager's brainstorming capability is unmatched; it's integration with Outlook is perfect for project management on any scale. I originally purchased MindManager 2002 for Tablet PC - and used it to write technical papers and presentations at the American Chemical Society Conferences (among others). Now I've used it for Lecturing, writing grants, administrative tasks, planning research - and the project management of that research.

Version: Mindjet MindManager Pro 6
"Wonderful tool for Brainstorming and Monitoring Projects"
Pros: I really liked the software and have been regularly using it (MM5 pro) for the past few months. There are some places where we wish it could have been more intuitive but then that is what version upgrades are for :-). As a project leader for many projects I keep track of various components using the mindmap (by screeing with LCD proj.) and everyone knows what their responsibility is, what they are supposed to deliver, and when. All in all a great software.
Cons: Wish it was more intuitive (even though it is the most intuitive mind mapping software available).

"Excellent visual representation of complex information"
Pros: Very good at connecting all the directories and files associated with a project or activity.
Excellent for brainstorming: ideas, projects, requirements, process flows...
