Publisher's description

From idontknow:

From the developer: "FTP client - Not in your directories, but very good product! LeechFTP has a feature to check for updates from within the program, you can access this in the Tools menu. A small dialog will show up and tells you wether there is a newer version or not. This is done by connecting to this server, so you have to be connected to the internet."

"Perfect for website updates and inter-O/S filetransfers in the office."

by helter on August 10, 2005

Pros: This software is both very stable and easy to use. Installation is a breeze and you'll most likely be up and running and fairly adept within five minutes.

I use this software to connect to our Unix servers and retrieve files a couple of times per month. I also update my own website, a friends corporate website and my sisters website occationally. For this kind of use this program is just perfect.

The absence of malware components and advertising is also very refreshing.

Cons: As reported the software is no longer supported and has not been updated for quite a few years. But then again, the FTP protocol has not really changed significantly for quite some time.

The default multithreading can cause some problems for heavy users on fileswapping servers as can the filesize constrictions of around 3Gb. Although this filesize restriction is of no concern to me in the way I use FTP, this, the lack of support and the dated look and feel is the only thing that prevents this software from a full five star rating.

"I loved this program until I switched"

by pjbrooks on April 23, 2006

Pros: I've used this program for years. Simple, easy to understand layout. Uses low system resources. Most importantly, it's free!

Cons: Does not automatically reconnect. It can't delete non-empty folders. When working with a large queue, sometimes a few files don't get uploaded. There are better free FTP clients available now.

    "AWESOME but outdated :("

by tmanXX on March 19, 2005

Pros: Small (>1MB), free, user friendly, great tweakable GUI.

Been on my must have app list for years.

Cons: This product was released in 1999. It is no longer supported. This client has a problem seeing large sized files. My guess is any file larger than 1GB. Confirmed at 3+GB.

I am soo disappointed. I now need to find a new client.

"Does the job, without the fluff"

by parougier on January 22, 2006

Pros: WS_FTP Pro (I'm a paid-up user) has all the bells and whistles. Leech FTP is so much faster to use when in a hurry. You go to the local supermarket in a Mini, do a big trip in a Mercedes. I love Leech's simplicity.

Cons: It's just a pity it's no longer supported / developed. Can't undertstand why. I'd happily pay $30 (17 UK Pounds)registration for this product.

    "The choice for Windows users"

    by chiana's_man on November 22, 2005

Pros: Unless you are going to use this in unusual situations, this is the ftp client to have. Here is a program that is everything one can want. Rock solid, it does just what you want when you want it to; no spyware/ malware or any bad ware; respects the operating system, sparing the registry from needless changes; is "light" in both program size and use of resources; has a generous compliment of features without overloading beyond what users are even remotely likely to use; user interface is cleanly designed for reasonable user friendliness and excellent ease of use; free and open source! As an added perk, it has seen years of use and proven to be stable.

    Cons: Two factors, neither of which matter to nearly all potential users;

One, it is no longer being developed and is by now old - this doesn't matter as the ftp specs haven't been changed, and it is perfectly compatible with current windows. However, it will try to update when you install; ignore this (the update site is defunct) and disable updates in the options to easily prevent this from being any nuisance in future.

Secondly for users in specific unusual circumstances, there is a limit to file size (say, network use with 3gig plus size files). Again, for most users this isn't a factor, and this program will probably continue to be the best choice for an ftp client for the immediate future.

"It's ok, but not that great"

by djmith on July 28, 2010

    Pros: Small and lite

    Cons: Not the best UI

Summary: I'm going to try another FTP client. While this works it's not what I am looking for
