Kaspersky Anti-Virus is a proactive malware scanner and virus removal tool that protects your PC.
User interface: Here Kaspersky has maintained its uncluttered look and approachable interface, similar to that found in Kaspersky Internet Security. As with its other products, Kaspersky has stepped back from differentiating its product with an annual naming scheme, and the result is a consistent brand image that remains strong. Your main security status is front and center, with various tools and options tucked away in a drawer.
Security: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 performed a full scan on our test machine in under 15 minutes. According to AV-Comparatives Real-World Protection test, Kaspersky shares the top spot with Avira and Bitdefender with a 99.8 percent block rate. However, Kaspersky also had zero false positive scans, compared to Bitdefender's 7. AV-Test results also concluded that Kaspersky scored a perfect 6.0/6.0 in both the protection and usability tests.
Performance hit: Although Kaspersky Anti-Virus performed well in security, we did notice very minimal lag with our boot and shutdown times after installing the program. Kaspersky Anti-Virus does have some minor influence on your machine if you're running it on a dated PC, but overall we didn't find the lag too inconvenient.
Kaspersky may be charging a few bucks more than some other security solutions, but pricing is consistent with high-scoring competitors. Overall, it does its job, and it does it well. We highly recommend downloading the trial to see if Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 significantly improves your system performance. If you don't notice any issues, and you're in the market for an anti-virus program, then we recommend this program.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus is the backbone of your PC's internet security system, delivering essential, real-time protection from the latest malware. It works behind-the-scenes with intelligent scanning and small, frequent updates, while proactively protecting you from known and emerging Internet threats. Enjoy essential protection that won't slow down your PC with Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
* Consistent reputation for reliability and thoroughness
* Reasonable price, doesn't try to do everything
* Easy to install & set up initially
" GUI/settings are a bit obscure, I couldn't tell if active AV was on (!) or just internet
* Potential major resource hog, likely on older computers:
- I am running Win 7 64 ASUS MB with Athlon II X2 250 3Ghz, 8GB of DDR2 RAM
- While browsing with Firefox, Kaspersky was using >50% of CPU
- Firefox has become at times virtually unusable and crashed for no obvioous reason.
- I paused Kaspersky and problem improved somewhat (25-30% CPU usgae)
- FaceBook apparently brings on the problem, when I closed FB tab in Firefox performance returned to normal
I cannot live with an AV that effectively hangs my computer under some circumstances, even if the problem only relates to certain web page(s)
It over protects and hinders the use of the computer.
With the "Safe Money" feature, it would not allow me to change P/W on one account and with two other I had to contact the bank.
Trying to cancel the cancel the purchase is impossible on their website and no phone contact is provided. I sent an e-mail with no reply.
On phone app it says I have one issue but doesn't tell me the issue.
It has displayed false alarms, saying I had downloaded a known virus, but when I ran a scan it came back no virus found.
I would not recommend this program mostly because the promise of your money back if not satisfied within 30 days, and then making it almost impossible to connect to have that promise fulfilled. Also the feature "Safe Money" was causing too many problems with banking and credit that I discontinued it. It's telling me I have an issue with my phone but doesn't tell me what the issue is. When I run a scan it says the phone is "no threats detected". I don't understand why they don't have a phone contact or chat available to contact someone. This company provides no service once they get your money.
I love Kaspersky as I am using it since ages when I used to be a teenager. Still it is the backbone of my PC - Laptop's internet security system to protect me from malware.
Kaspersky has its name but also has it's share number of problems associated with it. Like you can't have it on your mobile phone and also it's some features are not able to detect viruses other than the simple Malware which does cause some issue.
Kaspersky Internet security system can be trusted but they need to add some more advance features that will make it an indisputable against any threat from Internet.
