Publisher's Description
From Immunet:
Immunet Protect is free, light weight, cloud based Anti-Virus software which uses new approaches to provide malware protection. It is designed to work alongside Symantec, AVG and Mcafee to provide significantly improved detection rates in those products. You can also install it alone. Immunet works by providing its own fast and light layer of cloud based virus detection on top of your existing Anti-Virus product. Once you have Immunet installed it ties you into the Immunet Cloud and allows you to build communities of friends and family. When Immunet Protect detects a threat on your system it automatically makes available protections for it to everyone in your community and to the global community protecting them instantly.

"Fraudulent scanner"
Version: Immunet Protect 1.0.10
Pros
- Cloud Protection
- Neat 'friends' and 'users' network
- Compatible with other anti-virusesCons
- Very many false positives
- No offline scanner
- Scanner is fraudulent (isn't actually scanning files on your system)
- No context menu scanner (right click -> scan with)
- Poor documentationSummary
I am a network security geek. I'll be the first to tell you that this software is fairly useless. I have had more false positives than legitimate detections. I'm not a huge fan of the software, and have uninstalled it. I may install it in a year or so once the software matures.
Overall I would rate this software a 2/5. -
"Late Comer - Copy of Panda Cloud AV"
Version: Immunet Protect 1.0.10
Pros
Ok, so it's free. I was ok with it until I noticed it slowed everything down on my machine especially web browsing. Turned it off and now back to normal.
Cons
-degrades system performance
-low threat samples compared to Panda cloud avSummary
I noticed system degradation with Immunet. I noticed it less with Panda Cloud av, but even with it, I noticed slowness during my web browsing and file downloading since all that stuff gets funneled through the "Cloud". I know my Norton 2010 is super fast and also has millions of online-based community that share intelligence. I think they call it Norton Insight. Anyway, too good to be true and indeed it is.

"Companion to your existing AV with the cloud benefits."
Version: Immunet Protect 1.0.10
Pros
Runs seamlessly along side your existing AV. Monitors application installations, application starts, Active protection mode, ETHOS protection and cloud protections. Small resource usage, extremely fast scans (1 minute) and uses only 8mb disk space.
Cons
There are no Cons that I have found.
Summary
I was amazed at how fast the scans were and have investigated many of the cloud antivirus programs...this being the best of them IMO. The user interface is intuitive and simple to use. Setup was a breeze. Registration is not required though I recommend doing so as you obtain more cloud options, however none of the protections are limited if you don't. Great product.

"Decent extra layer at program install"
Version: Immunet Protect 1.0.10
Pros
Light uses near zero PC resources
I changed the cloud notifications (set them off), now it is alo completely silent :-)Cons
It has no track record yet, so do not know anything about its effectivenees
It got a good revies in the Tech Herald (link http://www.thetechherald.com/article.php/200935/4294/Review-Immunet-Protect)Summary
I do not use an AntiVirus in realtime (I just check downloaed files with f.i. A2 free). I do some periodical checking with Hitman Pro (also excellent free program). BUT . . . I like to check for known bad guys/malware when I install a new program. Immunet does this for me.

"Why can't my regular AV find everything this did?"
Version: Immunet Protect 1.0.10
Pros
Easy to install and didn't notice it slow my system down at all. Found a few things that my regular AV had missed. Very impressive for a free download.
Cons
Haven't found any yet.
Summary
My next step is to get this installed on the computers of my family and friends who are always getting infected with something or other even though they already have antivirus software installed. Lightweight and easy to set up. Can't ask for much more, especially for an early version.
